Well, as expected I was unsuccessful for SE Wales with 28 points at interview. I was an internal applicant, but have since finished my FTA contract. I do not know of any internals from my office who got the job, a couple of people got waiting list at best. It's a shame, and quite weird.

I was actually in the process of appealling/questioning the recruitment process before I knew if I was successful or not due to some things that happened on interview day that I won't go into on here as it wouldn't be very professional....I just wonder now if I should go ahead and put in a full appeal.

No news yet on Durham and Tees but I imagine I was unsuccessful for that one too. What a bummer haha.

I also applied for SE Wales and gained a score of 28 at interview.. Was quite pleased when results were posted that I had actually managed to pass the interview, but after speaking to others in my current and old office it quickly became apparent that my score was quite poor in comparison to most!

I also finished my FTA recently (reverting to my substantive band B role after over 2 years). I was even kept on TDA, and am still on until the end of the month when I presume the new staff will replace me. If I didn't need the money I would have told them were to stick it regarding TDA a long time ago.

Although glad to still have a job, I find it absolutely farcical how the whole recruitment process has been managed. I can only imagine that they want new, fresh faces in the Department as I can't think of one single person from the previous FTAs who have been successful this time. I know I sound bitter, and in a way I am , but I just needed to vent and in a peverse way I am actually glad to hear from people who are in the same boat.

On another note, good luck to those still waiting for their results and for those offerred positions in SE Wales, I may be seeing you soon!

RL have said that B&S have only sent out rejections, no offers as yet... phew... (although I was SURE someone on here said they'd had an offer....)

Also, 20 working day timescale for pre appt checks confirmed: expect final offers by late may, Staggered start dates mid-late june, depending on required notice periods etc.
  • Yes, it has come through. Provisional offer for Thames Valley at 1.05pm. I am a happy bunny.

Think that's a lot of BS given that 3 people on this thread have had offers. One of whom had a score of 32. Unless the recruitment line meant formal offer :)

Gargantuan - there are several people that I know of (myself included) that are ex-JCP in SE Wales and have 'got our jobs back'. I do think it's a shame that our previous history of working there counts for nothing but I guess they have to give everyone an equal chance - ex-DWP/JCP or not.

I do agree with that. I myself have a Master of Business in Public Sector Management, but it did not count for anything. Bearing in mind this is an EO position, a lower managerial grade of sorts. I guess that is the advantage/disadvantage of the competency system.

I do not think there will ever be the perfect way of recruiting to be honest.

I am not sure why they told you this as I have had an offer from B&S and I am sure someone else also said they did. I am on reserve for BC & Staffs. Give it a couple of days and call them again. Good luck.

Hmm, quick question for those who have had provisional offers. How do you think that they will decide locations. I'm told it's all down to position on the merit list, depending on which locations require staff.
However, I was also told that the number of places you said you would be willing to work would not effect your chances of being offered a post. Surely these can't both be true?

Do you think they also take into account where you live when allocating positions? It all seems like it'll be a massive headache! any ideas would be appreciated :)
