Applicant Status: Provisional offer
Congratulations, you have been made an offer, subject to satisfactory pre employment checks (e.g. references, security vetting etc.), for the position of 1228141 - Executive Officer/Band C – Welsh speaking South West Wales Extended closing date to 29/01/2012 .
I scored 33 guys & gals.
I have to give 2 work references now which might be a little difficult. given that I've had the same job for the last 10 years. :-/
That's great news :T Re: references - give your HR dept and a person that knows you well within the company ie manager or previous manager (that's what I intend to do as worked in same co for 20yrs before redundancy) plus it also covers the personal ref angle too.0 -

Can you keep on the reserve list for a region if you have accepted a job in another region?
If you reject a offer from a region can you still keep on the reserve list ?
What is the likelihood of a job offer if you are on a reserve list?
Can you find out how far down the reserve list you are (35 points)?
Difficult questions !
On the last recruitment (3 years ago) you could ring and find out what number you were on the list.
Maybe you could ask about the other questions if you ring - and then post it here cos I'm also interested in the answers!!!
As far as I understand it, if you accept a place, the other areas become redundant. But if you reject an offer in one area, I'm pretty sure you can accept another area's offer.
But, as everything at DWP - needs clarification!0 -
Mrsmooth, you are obviously entitled to your opinion but when you start posting that people deserve to fail, that = troll. No-one deserves to fail and everyone has the right to choose wherever they wish to work and however far they wish to travel to do so.0

I'm in similar position, I've had NW offer but live in Staffs...
I've had no response as of yet for Staffs or Black Country.. Also haven't had a response for Derbyshire either...
You don't need to do anything until you receive your final offer.. So if Staffs are the last to get back to you, you then have 5 working days to reply to all that have offered you a job...
Yes, but I am just thinking what if I don't get an offer from BC or Staffs as I don't know how my scores compare to others in these two regions. I would give it another 2-3 days and see if I hear anything. I feel I should have perhaps chosen BC for interview.
I am shocked certain individuals feel so strongly about guys who applied for multiple regions....at the end of the day its our choice and we can accept only one offer so it would certainly free up the space....& I agree that it goes to show u don't shy away from hard work & take up a job even if u spend 2-3 hrs a day travelling.0 -
This gave me hope: alas, still nothing.
Couple of probably irrelevant questions, if I may...
Did you interview in Wolves/West Brom?
What was your score?
What does your surnmae begin with?
And well done
Thanks!!!
I interviewed in Birmingham. In hindsight I should have probably interviewed in BC instead but jumped at the first offer I got & then was told it does not matter where u interview. My application status for BC and Staff still says situation test complete so not sure when I'll hear from them or if at all I will as who knows my score may not be enough for these areas. Also, B&S may have more vacancies compared to these areas. My score was 30 which isn't as good as some on here....but I know at least 4-5 different individuals from B&S all of who scored between 28-33 so overall marking seems stingy. All this is of course guesswork based on a small number of individuals on this forum.
Can you please share the same info about urself? What was ur score and where did u interview & how many applications you put in?0 -
Congrats Graham, Have you submitted your location form? I am hoping to get appointment in my town edinburgh, but no surety . Fingers crossed x
I got my provisional offer too and hoping for Edinburgh! Could be colleagues soon. Hoping it's not to long a wait for references and security checks, I really am unhappy in my current job. Congrats for the offer... Told u not to worry0 -
Well done to everyone who got offers or made the reserve list.
I got an email today provisionally offering me a position in the Thames Valley area. So excited and relieved, hopefully they will accept my out of date passport with an additional photo signed to prove my identity.
Does anyone know how long roughly it will be until we get start dates etc?? Been out of work for so long im desperate to get back and start earning again.
Thanks
x
Shared Aervices told me that the funding for these jobs isnt available until May and the jobs are due to start in June.Lynsey0 -
I sent my acceptance email but didn't get a reply. Should I have got one? Just seen someone say they got an email from all three of their areas just to say no further action. Thanks0

I dint get one back either.Lynsey0 -
Yeah, but B&S have. So, surely, if someone on here can get an offer on 32 there, they KNOW I've got 35, then it shouldn't matter who sends the flippin e-mail.
No one has bothered to ask, but I don't WANT to work in my home region, the transport's a nightmare, and it would take me forever t get to work. B&S is more convenient... and as I applied for the job, and scored high enough there, then surely I should have an offer from them.
Sounds a bit ranty that, I'm sorry. Just would rather know if I'm going to have to learn to drive within the next few weeks or not lol
Hi Jess, I dont think it works like that, the merit lists are formed by your home region for the interests of parity inline with who else was interviewed in your home region, I know that B&S markings were very tough compared to other regions. when all the scores were in names were placed on a percentile compared to other scores from your region and then its merged together with the other regions to see where you are placed comparitively with others and then an offer or reserve is made, the only way you wouldnt make the reserve is if you scored less than 4 in any of the competencies, 35 is a great marking and I hope you get B&S region! Good luck0
