Thanks, hopefully they dont keep you hanging on the reserve list too long. I should imagine once they start to get things moving there will be a lot of people not actually able/wanting to start. With such a high score it would be a real loss to them not to offer you a position.

I hope that some of the people in my area are also waiting for decision from Durham. If they are, it may add a bit of leverage to the reserve list.

    We live in hope!

It's absolutely amazing that 41 points just made reserve.

I was told by people in DWP, higher managers I might add, that it's virtually unheard of for people to score 9 on a competency unless they are earmarked by management for promotion. I was happy with my 5x8 based on that thought. Then we see that you need at least 2x9 and 3x8 to get the last job offers.

Well, as S-I-D made clear, our "40 being top of the reserve list" bubble has been well and truly burst.

I promise not to cry though...

I sincerely hope you get a post in days and they need a few more the next day...

    What say thee, Summer?
I say we're well and truly screwed hahahahahahaha

gutted that the cut off was 42!! that is just astonishing, and as I said in my pm to you, I know that the trend was not to generally mark higher in this region, as others in my department applied (a good couple of dozen) only a handful got to interview and all scored lower than 40. I truly believe that the high marks on this forum do not represent the norm, as everyone on here would be the applicants who wanted the jobs the most and therefore were more likely to be the high scoring candidates. furthermore it follows that it would have been the high scoring candidates who were most keen to know the outcome and spent time on this forum.

the only logical explanation for it (because there simply will NOT have been 100 applicants scoring higher than 40 out of the 250 or so that they interviewed - well not based on the outcomes at my place of work anyhow) is that there were not the quantity of jobs that were advertised. (suggestions have been made that it was as few as 18 posts). OR they are staggering their in-take...

personally I find this whole thing staggering loooool

am off to eat worms !!!

When I joined the service I was reserved but only because they staggered the intake. I am told that there is limited space on the training course they need to put you through for this job so I live in hope that this is the situation here. I'm less optimistic today than yesterday though.

BTW all. Seems that Summer and I work in the same office. Maybe we'll have to cry on each others shoulder, lol!
    Small world!:(

    Sherri,

I work for the department, have applied for multi districts, for some reason NW is asking me to fill in references etc in readiness for checks! I'm going to have to give them a ring monday morning to find out what's going on...

Congrats on the job though! Have you applied for just this one? or multi?

Hi, I work for the department too. I called cs recruitment line and was told to email the address provided in the email offer. If you read the whole way through the email, it tells you what to do. If I'd read that first I wouldn't have spent 40 minutes on hold to the recruitment line. Basically send a separate email for each offer. The district and your application number in the subject line and each separate one should identify that you are either accepting or rejecting. I sent them from work and basically said I'm accepting xxx district so please note I wish to reject for yyy. I then sent emails to yyy saying I've accepted xxx... I also added something along the lines of please confirm I do not need to take any further action on cs jobs site. Got emails back from all three (accepted and two rejected) within the hour saying no further action required x

hahahaha yeah everyone, how weird is that, MakemBill and I already work in the same place... who knew??? lol

So we will have a rant about it on Monday. I really hope that the reason for the reserve list is because they are staggering the intake and the limited space on the training course, but who knows. With the pass mark set at 80% for the on line test for this region perhaps the interview scores (despite my conjecture to the contrary) were all generally high too in which case we are !!!!!!ed hahahahaha (rather laugh than cry lol)

    Hi S-I-D,

So we're in the same boat, eh? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that we're all so much brighter up North, lol! Absolutely no disrespect to anyone elsewhere, but people are getting provisional posts on 31 points. We must have a chance with 40 points on the reserve. I wonder if it has anything to so with the offices we opted for.

    I'll PM you!!
Hi there, I'm not bothered at all at how far down the merit list I am for my district. I got an offer on 31 points. A colleague is on the reserve list on 28 so I'm guessing I'm pretty far down. Don't care tho, just so glad it's over. X
  • I might add, a colleague Of mine (only 3 of us were successful in my office) got 3 points more than me and when we compared feedback it was word for word identical! Same interviewing panel too...

That's not nice, people have got through because they are competent and if they are taking a 2 hour journey to get to work it's because there aren't any jobs near where they live. If you feel that strongly give up the position you've been offered for someone else and YOU go stack shelves!!!

What difference does it make though? At the end of the day, you can only accept one offer which means then that someone from the reserve list gets an offer. I applied for more than one because I wanted to!
