same here exactly....... not sure but keep fingers crossed.... might be might not be..... what do u think???
Gosh, I dunno, would so like to get some good news, hardly dare to hope. My brain has been imagining every scenario going! Maybe they sent out the forms as a holding exercise, and still haven't worked out who's going where and with what score. Who knows! The mind plays tricks amd it can be a dangerous thing! Never wanted a weekend to be over so quickly though, let's cut to Monday asap!!! Gonna have a beer now anyway, raising a glass to all who have had the offers they wanted and another raised glass to those of us who have to wait a bit longer. Commiserations to those unsuccessful candiates who have contributed to this thread, it's been a tough ride.
All the best, Tabs x

I applied for the Tyne/Wear Region. I attended my interview over 6 weeks ago. I gave up and thought my application was unsuccessful. I am currently in employment so am unsure if I will accept the offer.

I got an email at 2.45pm saying that I have a provisional offer. I am an external candidate but I have been working recrutiment for 5 years specializing in the longterm unemployed and used this job for my written and oral compentencies.

My scores were 86% in the online test.
My competency scores were 8,7,7,8,7.
My interview scores were 9,8,9,8,8

So Sam

42 gets a job which means 40 must be well up the reserve list.

I wonder, where did you hear about the lack of posts? 18 out of an original 100 seems ridiculous but would explain a lot. That also being spread across 18 offices.

I heard that there was one local office begging for 7 posts.

I also got a provisional offer from B&S but my home area is BC and I will prefer to work in BC. The status of my BC application is still hung on "situation test complete". My email for B&S says this:

RE:Executive Officer/Band C Birmingham and Solihull

Thank you for attending your recent interview for the above post.
I am pleased to tell you that you have been successful at the interview for the above exercise and I am writing to make you a provisional offer.
If this is the only Executive Officer vacancy for which you have applied, please confirm, by replying to this email within 5 working days, whether or not you wish to provisionally accept this offer.

If you have applied for more than one Executive Officer vacancy you will receive an outcome notification for each separate vacancy. The outcome will depend on the number of posts that we are able to offer in each district and how your interview score compares to other applicants in each of those district vacancies. You may be successful in one, or more, vacancy (and, therefore, receive a provisional offer notification for more than one vacancy) or alternatively be successful for some vacancies but not all those for which you applied.

Once you have received an outcome notification for each of the vacancies for which you were interviewed, if you are made more than one provisional offer, you will need to tell us which of the provisional offers you wish to accept. You should do this by replying, via email, to each of the provisional offer notifications, within 5 working days of you receiving the final outcome notification. Please include reference number and location in email subject heading. Email address to respond to is; ESSR.NORTHEAST@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK

Please log in to your communication centre using the link below to view your feedback. Please note, you may be prompted to select “Next Steps” – do not take this action, as you are a Civil Servant it is not relevant to you.

Attached to this e-mail is a Health Declaration which you are required to complete. Please print, complete and sign the form and then return it to us by post to the following address:

Employee Shared Services Resourcing
Room 9152
Belsay House
Benton Park View
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE98 1YX
Please note – if you have been made and wish to accept more than one provisional offer, you are only required to complete the Health Declaration form once.

Have anyone else heard anything from BC or Staff & Shrop??/

Well done to all the guys who have the provisional offer and all the best to those who made it to the reserve list. As someone on here said, scores are very relative to each region since some regions seem to have overall high scores. Nevertheless, I will be surprised if you don't hear something positive very soon with such great scores of 40+.

For those who did not make it, take it as a learning experience and who knows you might have something better in store for u. Good luck all!!!!

I also heard that the vacancies in Tyne and Wear were far fewer than were actually advertised and as it seems provisional offers have been made, then it would appear that there is definitely a reserve list and its not just a ploy to delay issuing the results. Well such is life. I guess 40 was close but not close enough in this region lol x

Use the freedom of the information act. Request to know the number of jobs available.

I think its disgusting that someone can get a job with 31pts yet my friend who gets 37 gets nothing but more waiting. It shows just how difficult it is up here compared to down south.

To put my political hat on, I firmly believe that DWP run by the tories/lib dems are pouring the money and resources - jobs - into their marginal seats. There was a freedom of information request being processed in february to release how much money was being given to each region.

Lord Ashcroft - A serious conservative donar - wrote a long piece saying that if they focus on spending money in the southern cities and midland towns they would win a majority outright.

I believe the reason for the delay was because regions were waiting for how many positions they could offer. DWP is a political department and the aim is to get the unemployment numbers down. If you have a job and have money coming in your more likely to vote Conservative. So maybe the marginal towns got the money and the areas that don't vote Conservative didnt.

I maybe paranoid but in Nottingham they advertised for 100jobs. In Nottinghamshire the Tories have 6 marginal seats with majoriteis. In Tyne/Wear there are no tory mps. No lib dem mps.

............... apologises for non political types but freedom of informtaion act is the only way you will get answers.

I scored 41/45 for North/Tyne and Wear (97% for the on-line test). On the reserve list. Feeling a bit disappointed ... but never mind!

Congratulations to everyone who has received an offer.

Hi everyone

Received a provisional job offer for South Yorks this morning :j

Weird how things turn out - I was rejected by them at sift, had my interview in Derbyshire, then had a locations e-mail from S.Yorks on 11th April and now an offer.

No complaints though obviously!

Many congratulations to everyone in the same position

HUGE commiserations to those who didn't get through - really hope better things are coming your way.

Have to say I'm shocked that Makem Bill and others didn't get through first time with those scores, but surely it's just a matter of time?
• Quick question that may be extremely dumb ha!

Are "tyne and wear", and "durham and tees valley" classed as the same area?

Im only asking since I thought Mackembill was in the durham and tees valley part but just posted about tyne and wear.

My friend had a meeting with his jc advisor just after easter. He was wondering when he would find out about this application. His advisor knew someone in the office who also applied and gave him a call. The guy on the end of the phone said that he got a high score but positions were fewer than expected. My friend said something like 20 jobs then..and the guy said possibly less nervously. My friend who has been unemployed for a while requested why so few and the guy just shut down on him and said lets wait and see.

My friend then took that call further with the head of the office who deals with transport allowances for job interviews and was told around 18jobs were available but none in this office.

Thanks Mel

However, it now seems that with 41 points only making the reserve list I'm not even near the top with my 40. Itwould be interesting to know where we stood on the reserve list.

Tyne and Wear only made offers on 42 points.

How tough is that!?
• Avacado,

I'm in similar position, I've had NW offer but live in Staffs...

I've had no response as of yet for Staffs or Black Country.. Also haven't had a response for Derbyshire either...

You don't need to do anything until you receive your final offer.. So if Staffs are the last to get back to you, you then have 5 working days to reply to all that have offered you a job...
