  • A point to remember also, back in the early days when the status of our applications were bouncing back and forth from sit test complete to on hold. There could be rather simple explanations for the high scores being placed on the reserve list.

    Thanks Mel

However, it now seems that with 41 points only making the reserve list I'm not even near the top with my 40. Itwould be interesting to know where we stood on the reserve list.

Tyne and Wear only made offers on 42 points.

    How tough is that!?

Ridiculous is what it is, not to mention cruel. I was told more than 2000 people applied for jobs in the region, now it seems it was for 18 posts (so at least 111 people applying for every single post!!). Advertising it at 100 (even if they did say estimate) was ridiculous.

My friend who got 44 did get a provisional offer from Tyne/Wear.

So 42 seems to be the cut off. Harsh!!! So thankful for giving me a 9 and not an 8. Whats the difference really. Harsh. but so fortunate and thankful.

I scored 41/45 for North/Tyne and Wear (97% for the on-line test). On the reserve list. Feeling a bit disappointed ... but never mind!

Congratulations to everyone who has received an offer.

It's absolutely amazing that 41 points just made reserve.

I was told by people in DWP, higher managers I might add, that it's virtually unheard of for people to score 9 on a competency unless they are earmarked by management for promotion. I was happy with my 5x8 based on that thought. Then we see that you need at least 2x9 and 3x8 to get the last job offers.

Well, as S-I-D made clear, our "40 being top of the reserve list" bubble has been well and truly burst.

I promise not to cry though...

I sincerely hope you get a post in days and they need a few more the next day...

    What say thee, Summer?

Hi melpg, same situation with me in East Anglia. Was told I missed the cut, then offered today. On reserve list for Hampshire/IOW but from what I can gather, so is everyone. If there is anyone out there with an offer from Hamps can you speak up and if it is alright what your score was.

Hoping for other offers too, but time will tell. A job is a job, and anywhere, this is not that bad a paying job, challenging work, but a hell of alot less arduous than some of my previous occupations.

    Oh for a peaceful existence......

    Congrats!!

Like you say - a job is a job. I'm so relieved. My wage has plummeted since I left DWP last June and been really struggling this past year so this is an absolute godsend for me.
  • So my husband applied for the two regions, he's received a 'reserve list' email this morning from Hampshire, nothing yet from the Dorset one (whichever region that is!)

    He scored 37 in total.

We have fingers crossed for something positive coming from this, being that he's been out of work since October 2011 :(

    I concur, Charlie.

I have friends who have an inside line in DWP and was told that 1900 applied in our area. Of those around 1200 passed the test, and the test pass mark was set at 80% (some areas it was dropped to below 40%). This was then whittled down to around 260 interviews.

Today is the first I'd heard of about the level of jobs available. I was told that there were originally between 60 and 100 posts and once decided a pre surplus job match was carried out.

Maybe once the dust settles we'll hear more about the true position. If I hear anything I'll put it on here.

Doset centres on the Bournemouth area.

    Good luck.

Well done to everyone who got offers or made the reserve list.
I got an email today provisionally offering me a position in the Thames Valley area. So excited and relieved, hopefully they will accept my out of date passport with an additional photo signed to prove my identity.

Does anyone know how long roughly it will be until we get start dates etc?? Been out of work for so long im desperate to get back and start earning again.
    Thanks

    Congratulations.
It depends on pre employment checks; medical checks, references, CRB etc. Could be a month could be more or less. Depends really on how quickly people respond to enquiries. Also depends on others as they won't start the training until they have a certain number ready to roll.
