What difference does it make though? At the end of the day, you can only accept one offer which means then that someone from the reserve list gets an offer. I applied for more than one because I wanted to!

Just noticed how Mr smooth has retracted his statement, why can't people think before writing nasty comments.

I feel I must comment on some peoples conduct on this forum......

I have received an email today placing me on the reserve list for a job. As a cynic I do not expect to progress any further. However, I reached the reserve list with a measly score of 25. Yes! Just 25. So all those out there proclaiming that you need scores over 40 to even make reserve are just stirring. Stop trying to panic people who have worked so hard to reach anywhere in this process! Those who even got through the first sift need congratulation! Times are hard in the job market and people should pat themselves on the back for even reaching the first stage. Ok rant over!

Cant help thinking that a point or 2 is making the difference between a job , reserve and rejection !
Makes me wonder how fair the process is ? differing interview panels are bound to give differing scores. Wonder if they do a audit and have a mystery shopper who attends each panel. then review scores
I bet some people scored to high and some to low !
Having said that have not a clue what the fairest option is !
One last point is I have had a rejection from the NW and now I have a reserve list email . So completely confused ! I have 35 points ! all 7's !
Wondering now if they will send me more rejections or reserves ? and what that means I suppose is sit hope for 6 months then start the hole process again ! Cant wait to start my new job and the EA ...Wonder if a thread could be set up ..... 'DWP 2012 the recruits' as would like to know how all of you get on in your new roles.
    CONGRATULATIONS to all
    Sue

Well done, I got 37 on mine and got a posting yet people are in here saying they didn't get an offer with 37 etc

A lot of bs going on here

..actually the pass marks are different from region to region, so where a score of , for example, 34, might get you a provisional offer in one district, it might not even get you a place on the reserve list on another (and I know this because I fall under the latter category, unfortunately!)

People aren't stirring, they're just comparing scores etc from region to region.

...to coin a phrase... "Rant over!!" :)

i think the score you get a posting at will depend on the area you are applying for, the scores will be listed and vacancies allocated from the highest scorer going downwards.

I wouldnt have expected there to be very many in each area scoring over 40, but of course this does depend on the interviewer and the marks that they allocate to each answer

I know a few people that have applied, up until Friday night they hadnt heard anything, they all scored less than 40 though

Hi Charlie, I have read at least two posts about Hampshire and isle of Wight region saying they get 37's

...as in 37 as a pass?

Well that's fine - but NE area so far have only offered places to people with 42 and above, reserve list for 41 as far down as 37 from what I recall. I got 34 and a rejection. I've seen someone with 31 in another region get an offer.

    So it varies.

37 as in job offer but other people on here claimed in my region they are reserve list with a 37 score. Obviously the scores vary from region to region but if you got max scores would you be on a thread because your worried and sharing info or would you be say at home awaiting the job offer?

I've only seen one person so far with max scores (45)... most other people are genuinely worried, some (like me) with good reason. Some got great marks and still ended up on reserve lists etc. I don't think it's for you to judge people's intentions as to why they're on here. As always, just take everything on the internet with a pinch of salt - and try not to act like too much of a troll!:D

Now I'm off to the pub to drown my sorrows, good luck to those on reserve lists or still waiting to hear, congrats to those who were successful, and commiserations to those who weren't.

I'll keep an eye out over the next few weeks to see how people get on. Fingers crossed, all ! :)

    Applicant Status: Provisional offer
Congratulations, you have been made an offer, subject to satisfactory pre employment checks (e.g. references, security vetting etc.), for the position of 1228141 - Executive Officer/Band C – Welsh speaking South West Wales Extended closing date to 29/01/2012 .

    I scored 33 guys & gals.

I have to give 2 work references now which might be a little difficult. given that I've had the same job for the last 10 years. :-/

Any thoughts on this ? got a offer in North Scotland . Seem now to have a reserve place for the NW (need to clarify this on Monday)

Can you keep on the reserve list for a region if you have accepted a job in another region?
If you reject a offer from a region can you still keep on the reserve list ?
What is the likelihood of a job offer if you are on a reserve list?
Can you find out how far down the reserve list you are (35 points)?

    Difficult questions !

i think you need to contact the HR number listed on your paperwork as they should be able to answer all your questions and also tell you where you are on the list
