Had my interview - wasn't as good as I would have liked but weirdly not broken up about it. Seem to be in the mindset that if it is meant to be it will happen. I have never had a competency based interview before - always been asked re my experience so it was a luittle weird in that respect. My interview was only 30 min but that was the time the interviewer told me it would be at the beginning. They didn't really dig too deep for any further answers - though I did get follow up questions for all 5 competencies.

One thing that did happen was that I was asked to fill out a location form prior to the interview. They had details for all the Staffs/Shrops locations but then just asked me to write in offices from the other areas I applied to and I couldn't remember all the Black Country ones!!!! It threw me a little. Oh and I did need an extra passport photo that was stuck to the initial sheet I signed to confirm who I was.

I'll keep checking for my interview feedback but I will be surprised if I score high enough to get an offer.

I'm sure you've done better than you think. Good luck!

    Hi

Has anyone else had their interview scores back for Birmingham & Solihull. I had my interview on Friday and recieved 6,8,6,7, 8...wish those 6's would dissapear. Does anyone know what score will get you onto the merit/ waiting list?

Those seem good scores. I think you've got a decent chance of merit.

I posted a few days ago with info from another area where the "pass" mark for interview was 30 points, i.e. less than 30 points and it's the end of the road. Only around 35% of interviewees were reaching the target which is about how many they are looking to employ in that particular area.

While this is fact, it doesn't mean all areas are adopting the same score policy. It does act as a guide though.

Thank you, I guess it's just a waiting game now then. Fingers crossed B&S adopt the same approach.

Lorac, I always look positively on the fact that they're asking you to elaborate. If you were not giving them anything remotely like they were after, they wouldn't probe. It could be they just wanted to see how you were under pressure. I know I may not be a good example to follow, but I was asked further questions on probably three or four of my competencies. I managed to squeeze 8,8,8,8,8.

Don't despair...and remember, it's over. You can't change anything so just wait and see. My feedback was up in 20 hours. Most seem to be days.

    Sincerely, the best of luck!

    Hi Sarah,

I think that's just about the way it is, especially when it refers to appointments and reserve lists.
  • Birmingham had 6 panels sitting I heard there were a lot of candidates failing to attend and they could have got away with 3 or 4 panels .That is good news, the process has been long no doubt some have found other jobs. I thought your scores were probably ok, dont worry you have done well. No doubt you will be near the top of waiting list that i am at the bottom of.
  • apologies again if this qeustion of mines has been answered, got my interview tommorow so would really like some advice.

2 examples of the competencies i am going to give, directly followed one another, one was surveying current methods of training to identify ways to improve it, then next one discuses how implemented it and monitores staff afterwards.

is this process ok, what if the more recent example (implementing is asked before the surveying example)

That would be a shining example of how a small sample can have misleading results. If you were only to take the scores on here you would think that a far higher pass mark would be required.
