Still had no response via email after completing test a few days ago still awaiting to see if get location form I hope so.

As I have worked in DWP for roughly 4 years as an AO and hope that all the effort i made in regards to competencies have been worth it.

But in public sector its hard to gain promotion at moment

    good luck to everyone

@janabiyah jane - how weird..which district was this that you were 3rd cause I was joint third on the merit list...perhaps it was you :)

I was not joint 3rd, I was in training with 1st and 2nd.. It was Nottingham on the last intake.. :)
  • I read somewhere that these tests are designed not to sift out the highest performing candidates, rather to sift out those what meet the absolute minimum requirements desired for the department....

From previous experience ahead anyone got an idea of what these minimum standards have been?

Unless the number of applicants is huge, in which case the minimum score is raised to reduce the number being sifted at the competency stage, or interview.

In theory they only have 2-3 weeks to complete sifting because the interview slots are supposed to be between 24th feb-9th March

Normally above 60% but its been as high as 90% in one exercise.

Goldi, am I correct in thinking that you said you were dyslexic? Put that together with the issues you had running it; that would explain the 2nd attempt & perhaps that would explain the extra time? Unless I'm getting you mixed up with someone else

You're right. I never told them I was dyslexic though, which I was concerned about so I'm guessing it's because I wrote an e-mail explaining my technical difficulties.

Just had 2 emails from DWP - one of them blank LOL

Same ones as before, with a list of locations and links to forms and lots op generic apologies for technical difficulties...
  • Might anyone know what I could do to change my specified location? I applied for 2 locations. In one, the test froze and I have been unable to complete the re-sit because of time limitations today (it was due in at midnight). In another, I completed the test and it has gone through. However, the location I have completed is not my preferred region, it would mean moving area and I have only just settled where I am now. I haven't completed my working locations form but received the email with a link to all the forms. Would it be worth my while completing my preferred area and e-mailing them with my preference or have my chances of working in this area passed? Thanks for any advice and I agree completely with the previous posters who have mentioned what a shambles the whole process has been.
  • Hi everyone,

Wow.. This thread has been very interesting to read. Especially as I've just completed the online assessments.. I got 18/24, 226/336. In the 61% percentile. Not great but I'm going to be optimistic and just see what happens. Has anyone else applied in the South West? I've just received a generic email from Workforce, just apologising for delays and asking me to complete the working locations form.. However, South West (Bristol) isn't even on there!!!! Every other location is, grr.. On the ad they definitely said they have vacancies all across the South West including Bristol.

I applied in 2009 and was successful for an EO position, the whole process was so long, but the online assessments were a walk in the park compared to these ones! These ones required a lot more brainwork, lol. Especially the maths questions. I was previously on a fixed term contract, was the best job ever!

Does anyone know of any proposed start dates? Anyone heard anything back about an interview? Or informing them that they've not been successful? Might be a while yet I suppose..
  • BTW - I didn't work in a Jobcentre previously, I was managing a Careers Office working in conjunction with the JCP. Would love to do that again, I know it's a lot more pressurised in the JCPs. People came into my office out of their own free will and were so appreciative of the support on offer. In the JCP.. Well it's different I'm sure!

I have just completed my Workplace Locations form and returned it, I was starting to panic as I had not heard from the DWP since completing the online assessment on Monday. The email arrived at 00.49, it contains apologies and mentions problems.

The email includes Gloucestershire and West of England in the list of links to online forms. Would that not cover Bristol?
