DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

Just a quick question to those who have had their interviews......
Did they ask about your job preference at all?
I have just been reading the job description again (my interview is on Friday) and there are several different roles. I just wondered how they allocate the right people to the right roles.
I wasn't asked at all at my interview in 2009, and there were other job roles described there too, so I wondered if it was based on your scores at interview - I think I just scraped through! That was my first experience of a competency interview and I had no idea what they were going to ask until they thrust a paper into my hand an hour before they saw me, when I had completed the tests at the assessment day !
They do not ask about this - and I was told in my interview that the majority of roles will be on the front line - face2face with customers signing.
I think the back office roles (if available) tend to be advertised internally first if I'm not wrong, or get filled whenever DWP decides a restructure is in need or when offices close down and staff are transferred.0 -

My question was a bit similar to this. I asked how they would match an applicant to a location, I was told that would be at the next stage of the process. So I assume the job itself would be the next stage too?
Just am assumption though

Thanks, and yes you're probably right. When I started in 2009, all the new staff were front line, although it won't be signing as they are AO roles (and don't get paid enough in my opinion!). If they are front line it will be as a Personal Advisor carrying out Work Focussed Interviews with between 12 and 18 customers a day.
So, they don't ask - maybe they're judging at interview? Or maybe they were just dangling a carrot with the other roles and know full well they will all be advisor roles?!
Not that I'm being picky, it's still a good job - but have to say that some of these good jobs are better than others .......:cool:0 -

I would go with your assumption...going by the last recruitment locations were not looked at until you had been successful. I'm sure somewhere there is guidance in their recruitment process that they cannot place you I THINK more than an hour and a half from your postcode (unless you choose to relocate in which case it's probably a whole new ball game!).
Don't quote me on that, but know that was in place last time round.0 -

I will definitely be asking the same question!0 -
Hi all,
My interview's on Saturday and anxiety is really beginning to kick in! I've been reading through the forum and clearly some people have been receiving exceptional feedback on their interviews. If I get 6 or above in each competency I'll be doing cart-wheels through the streets of east London! :j (If you see me, don't stop me, you'll only get caught up in the awesome cyclic action).
Anyway, I was wondering if anybody could shed any light on the specific questions being asked in the East London region? And how common are follow up questions?
Any help will be much appreciated!0 -
Hi Souk,
I have my interview in East London the following Saturday0 -
Hi, for those who had there interview; quick quesiton.
you know the form to provide details to cover the whole 3 years, did you simply put down you Employers/college's name, or your supervisors/tutor for example. thanks0 -
Sorry if this is a silly question.
On the Character and Criminal Record Declaration form it statesHave you ever been convicted or found guilty by a Court of any offence in any country (excluding parking but including all motoring offences even where a spot fine has been administered by the police) ... You need not declare convictions, which are “spent” under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974).
How does this apply to speeding convictions which are no longer on your licence. I have a couple from approx 5/10 years ago but, as I renewed my licence 18 months ago and they're no longer registered, I haven't a clue of the dates!
I'd ring the recruitment helpline but, as I've only got a mobile, it costs a fortune.0 -

These would usually be classed as spent convictions so no need to put them down0
