Hi people am really confused and will appreciate any explanation. How do I give a competency that tick most of the bullet points under manager/senior practitioner? This role is just and entry level position and to laid down this strict criteria I personally think is unfair. It will only encourage people to resort to lying.

My one states that you only need to bring a separate photo, signed on back by someone known to you for 3 years, IF you haven't bought along photo ID, like passport or photo driving license.

Mine too, but I will take one any way just in case I think.

Yeah many of the competencies don't even touch the role you'll be doing. I'm using my previous experience (in the same role) and even then I'm having major problems with hitting things like "Managing Finance" "Deploying People & Resources" and not to mention the entire Leading category. If I did any of that, I must've forgotten it in the space of a year. :(

Just a little something for those who have interviews scheduled...

I had to ask for the last two questions to be repeated because I found them to be quite long winded questions compared to the first 3 - it is DEFINITELY worth having 2-3 examples per competency.

I ended up using my Leading competency for Building capability and almost got stuck for another example, and it's not great for confidence or staying focused when you have to think of another example on the spot! I should have been more prepared but that's my own fault.

As others have mentioned - even if you get asked a question and immediately see it relates to a particular bullet point, a good answer will naturally expand to include other aspects of the competency.

I hope this is of some use. I'm now playing the waiting game too for interview feedback - started off well but didn't end so great so pretty nervous.

Good luck to everyone - those waiting for comp scores and interviews....and those who have had interview feedback already too! :)

Lorac I had given you the information already but like you said you didn't take the time to go through it all and asked me to pin point it for you which I did.

I don't feel I was that rude, but feel free to make more crying posts.

I wish you well on the interview too sir.

Erazor, come on, don't be like that with someone you don't know. I also thought you were being patronizing along with this comment.

Why not give an answer again without attitude? This job we are applying for will give us scenarios like that everyday. So even if you have been asked something ten times, theres still not a need to speak to a person like they are stupid.

Were all on this thread to support another not destroy each other. :)

If you don't want to answer a question over and over again, then don't. But its not fair to ridicule anyone. Some posts are just hard to interpret that's all.

I assure you I have came in as a peace maker here and mean all this with love not hatred.

LETS GET BACK TO MOTIVATING AND ENCOURAGING EACH OTHER WITH HOW FAR WE HAVE COME :):):)

I'm not sure if the following questions might help you?

Managing Finance - did you ever have to give ADF/travel expenses etc and work to ensure the team budget was used efficiently? When you gave travel expenses did you ensure customers used the cheapest and not quickest mode of transport?

Deploying People and Resources - have you ever led a careers fair? did you have to do a presentation where you used staff in different teams?

Not entirely sure if the above will be useful to you actually now I've written it but i'll leave it there just in case. Also I'm not sure if all your examples are DWP ones, but I know the interviewers prefer for you to give examples from a number of past experiences even if you have worked for DWP previously (shows your diversity).

I partly disagree - I think each of these competencies can be very relevant to the EO role depending on what EO role you are placed in. I originally had a DWP example for each competency based on both AO and EO work as FTA I did - BUT if it is a customer facing (sign on) role then yes - the majority of these cannot be applied directly.

Some great points stargazer, I didn't think of those tbh as I was so fixated on my current examples.

Although a small point I would make is that if I used those examples (not saying I will), I'd miss out on other parts of the competency unless I join up two or three examples and say it as one example in the interview, not sure this is a good idea as I'll be extrapolating my "story" but if needs be...

    Cheers.

Thanks for the advice, and I hope you get good feedback sounds as if you may have done enough....One question: When you say you need more than one example per comp, do they ask you more than one question per comp. I hope so, I have 3 little scenarios for most of them which cover different aspects....
