Received my email this afternoon for interview in Manchester

I know this is a silly question but does anyone know if you'll be penalised for picking a later date. I'd rather have an interview in the school Easter holidays.0 -
Had my interview yesterday.......
I was asked the dreaded question that I didnt want ' Can you give us another example? ' The reason being.... they ask you a specific question regarding the competence.... Customer Focus - Can you tell us a time when you did 'this' my Customer Focus answer didnt quite fit, so I had to adapt it all, so just prepare yourself and listen to the question and not just blurt out the competence.....
I asked questions
How many positions - less than originally thought, its about 60
When are jobs due to start - April 2012
When will we find out if successful or not - end of March
How do they match the candidate to the location - that will be discussed in the NEXT interview stage....
It was very difficult to tell how my interview went, however the 2 ladies interviewing me were very nice and kept my nerves at ease. Im not sure how I got on, they said, WOW thats alot of information, Im getting writers cramp writing it and giggled, they also told me they couldnt fit anything else in and had to squeeze it down the bottom. Im taking that as a good sign???? Or do you think they were insinuating that I was rambling?
Its just so different to any other interview I have experienced, fingers are still crossed!
1 in 3 chance is good odds....... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me get the job!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
So let me get this straight.
When they ask you one of the competency questions, it's on a specific part of the competency. ie.
Give me an example of a time when you have communicated with impact/managed finances
as opposed to,
Could you give me an example of how you've built capability/ managed people and performance?
And they expect you to focus on that one specific part.
But in 200 words we were supposed to cover all the bullet points and sub-headings with one example?0 -

I seriously doubt it. Once everyone has been interviewed the results will be collated and listed in order of how well one does. They are not comparing you to the next person but to how you compare to the level of competency required. Being interviewed first doesn't give one an advatage over being interviewed last. You have an interview and it doesn't matter when you book it for just so long as you have prepared yourself.0 -
Hi all
Had my interview today as well. No surprises but like others said, be prepared to adapt your competencies to fit the question as they ask them in different ways. They really do put you at ease, state what they are expecting and off you go.
My interviewers asked me to elaborate slightly, one was about how i built trust with a colleague on the already example i had given, not a new one, and the one writing asked me about one of the outcomes, i had stated my task at the beginning and asked me summat to do with furthering the outcome again about the original example i had talked about. I wasnt asked to provide any other examples so hopefully i did enough. One thing i waffled (all relevant stuff ha ha) i thought, but now over analyzing thinking did i waffle. Not that i can do anything about that now. I talked for the whole 45 mins and she stated something about time and we were now on the last one and i still had competency 5 to go so rushed that one a little i suspect. Tbh this totally threw me and if any that would be the one i would expect to score lower on due to rushing and not focusing on adapting my competency to what she was asking.
Trust this to be the one with the bliddy most bullet points in haha.
Anyway all done so have to wait and see. Good luck to all still waiting to attend. Its not as bad as I thought

Don't think so0 -
:rotfl:I would have liked to count the slots around the various areas, but there were only five in my area, so I booked the one that suited me best (on the 12th) as fast as I could.
At a glance, and as you say, there didn't seem that many, even in Aberdeen or Dundee.
I went into the local JCP at lunchtime and the staff still don't know whether there are actually any jobs in the local office (Western Isles).
Best of luck with your interview. Where are you going for yours?
Thankyou! My local is Dundee. I know quite a few people that have got interviews, in fact everyone who has scored over 4 on their comps seemed to have one.
The more I read on here about the questions getting asked, the more nervous I'm becoming!0 -
Has anyone booked there interview with north London?0

Pixiechick, I agree with Lorac05 and Nana4u that this will have no bearing at all on your chances. The only thing that it may have a slight bearing on is the judgement of the interviewers, but this would be uncommon. They may be slightly more inclined to base their opinions not only on the evidence you provide but also in comparison with others who had gone before, which they'd be unable to do if you were first.
All you can do is not worry about everyone else and go in with your evidence sorted, clear in your mind and if you deserve it, you'll get it. Good luck.0 -

Poiuyt,
Don't get hung up about what questions they'll ask you. While the questions they ask are braodly the same for all applicants, they'll not be identical. They'll relate to the evidence that you've submitted previously. If they feel there is nothing more to learn about the competency they may ask for more evidence which may mean referring to a new example, or they may ask in a different way. You will not lose marks for asking them to re-phrase or repeat a question because in all communication what's clear to you is not necessarilly clear to the person receiving the message.
Prepare your stuff well...learn it...refer to cue cards (or written pointers) and take your time. Good luck.0
