DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

I suspect they've still not finished the sift, as folks like mommarat are still without any scores... yet other people have managed to get interviews in other areas, even though BC is their home, which I'm not happy about, as I could have has B&S interview by now.
I'm working in Cardiff last week of March, so am getting twitchy now in case I can't make the interview... which would, genuinely, be just my luck.0 -
:rotfl:
Thankyou! My local is Dundee. I know quite a few people that have got interviews, in fact everyone who has scored over 4 on their comps seemed to have one.
The more I read on here about the questions getting asked, the more nervous I'm becoming!
I'm with you there. The more I read, the more I doubt my own ability to express myself!
Last time round (2009) I didn't have any previous experience of what a competency based interview was going to be like. I just read over the examples I'd written on the application, went into the interview and talked.
By some fluke, and with some prompting from the interviewers, I must have said the right things, as I was one of the first two appointed in my area.:)
I somehow suspect that my performance in the interview will need to improve, if I have any hope of the same result this time round.
I have feedback (from North London) on my application competencies (5,6,6,6,8), so I'll be looking to bring the 6's up to the 8 standard, and completely rewrite the 5!
Having said that, I did do it last time with no notes and little preparation. I think it helped that the experiences I wrote about were 100% genuine, it's much harder trying to remember made up stuff!
I think pithiness, and a pleasantly enthusiastic attitude will go down well with any panel.
Again, good luck to you Mint25 and everyone else interviewing over the next couple of weeks. If you're feeling overwhelmed, focus for a moment on just how well you've done to get to this point.:T0 -
I am just going to stop checking.
Clearly there will NEVER be any further communication. Never.
After hearing nothing at all for over a month I finally got an email yesterday to tell me 'thanks but no thanks', so you should eventually hear something one way or the other. But I must admit I was almost at the same point as you when it came.0 -
Still nothing for north London.
Waiting.... Waiting.... Waiting0 -
Poiuyt,
Don't get hung up about what questions they'll ask you. While the questions they ask are braodly the same for all applicants, they'll not be identical. They'll relate to the evidence that you've submitted previously. If they feel there is nothing more to learn about the competency they may ask for more evidence which may mean referring to a new example, or they may ask in a different way. You will not lose marks for asking them to re-phrase or repeat a question because in all communication what's clear to you is not necessarilly clear to the person receiving the message.
Prepare your stuff well...learn it...refer to cue cards (or written pointers) and take your time. Good luck.
Is everyone taking notes then? It seems alot of people have mentioned taking them in and even been encouraged to refer to them. I know they say they're allowed but just feels odd.0 -

Yes take notes with you. You do not get penalised for referring to them. Avoid taking loads of notes though as this may become confusing in the heat of the moment. Try to practice answering your competances. And take bullet pointed notes with you for the interview.0 -
Hi
i've seen in prevoius posts that you need work records such as p45's. is anyone is my Situation where you have no work records as you have been in full time education with only work experience. is this a problem?0 -
Hi ive got an interview for the North East region this week. My Percentile was 51% and although i have been invitied to interview I have not received any feedback regarding my competencies is anyone else in the same position? Also in the documents i have not got the CRB check only the CRB Disclosure to sign and the CRB cover letter. Is the interview just going to be based purely on the competencies rather than questions like "Tell me about yourself", "Where do you see yourself in five years time" and having to know information about DWP as a whole? Would appreciate some help thanks0

The sift for the Black Country finished 3 weeks ago so honestly don't know what is going on there.0

I have been looking at this forum for a while now, and I have a question for those who have already been to interview. I understand that the interview is competancy based, but do you have to mention something that relates to each bullet point in the framework? I only ask as the questions some people have been asked seem to only relate to one part of the competancy (delivering a professional service is split into 4 and so on). Do we only have to meet each bullet point in the part of the compentancy on which we are questioned (for example, being asked about demonstrating job related knowledge in the professional service competancy), or do we have to somehow relate it to all the other sections as well?
Sorry if this doesnt make a lot of sense!0
