You're right there. I sent in a complaint on Thursday and only received an acknowledgement today!

I've not even had an acknowledgement and I've sent 3 emails so far - can I ask what address you sent your complaint to and what the acknowledgement said? I know they are reading my emails as I've sent them from works address and get a 'read' receipt - to be honest, the fact they are reading them and not responding makes me even more angry!

Do you work in DWP? It's on the global address list. If you type "Select" in it's the top one on there.

The acknowledgement was just that - "We have received your email and will look at it shortly" or words to that effect.
  • Hi I'm going off a bit here but are there any FTA AOs on this forum, I was just wondering what they have been told about their contracts. Mine has been extended until the end of June and then it will be reviewed.

I was one and am still in contact with friends who are. At the moment they are ending at the end of march, haven't heard anything else yet. Was originally told that they are waiting until the EO recruitment is done before a decision is made.

The intranet site has something on about an AA to AO progression exercise that is going to take place. Dunno if you'll be able to apply through that. They have said that the sift is going to be done nationally - looks like they've learned their lesson from this fiasco.

Yes I do work for DWP and its Selection Policy Team, right? They're reading my emails less than an hour after they've been sent but had no response as yet (though not been in the office today, so possible I've had one today). I even copied ESSR North East in and they read one on Sunday morning, but as yet, no response.

It's now been over 2 weeks since my non-feedback was put up in my home district, Section Policy procedure states that feedback should be uploaded onto CS jobs within 10 working days of scores going on there, and feedback should be detailed and constructive. Don't think 5 x 'see previous comment' cuts it somehow!:rotfl:

Ha ha! You're right there. Might send something to ESSR myself.
  • I cant do the aa to ao progression or apply for the ones on cs as they are for surplus permanent staff. I suspect I will have to apply for permanent band b externally IF they ever recruit this way. I love my job but have had 5 extensions already and would like to have a permanent contract.

might be a very long wait for some people, just spoken (again) to the RL and this time I was told that many people will not be told they are unsuccessfull until after all the interviews have taken place in case they don't get enough (quality) people to fill the posts, he said it would save them rejecting you then having to come back to you in a few weeks time and ask if you're still interested!!
how long can they string it out FGS!!!

Thanks Shiraz, I am also waiting on news from North Scotland on whether I will be invited to interview or not. Its getting ridiculous now, it feels like my life is on hold! _pale_

Did the person on the RL state when the interviews for our area are taking place and where they will be?

I would agree there are flaws in the process for those applying for several areas but for most applicants applying for just one area they will have been measured fairly against the other applicants in that area by either on line scores or competency scores.
My district chose not to sift due to the immense resource you need to do this - quicker to go straight to interview and interview a few more.

The fact that your area chose not to sift means a completely different process is being applied in that area to those areas that are sifting, which is just ridiculous, every area should treat all candidates in exactly the same way. My competencies have been marked by my home area (wrongly in my view, but that's another argument) and are well below the required level to get an interview, but if I had applied only to your area then my 99% score would have got me an interview. I repeat that it is totally unfair to treat candidates in a different way depending on where they have applied, and I would like to hope that it is contrary to Civil Service employment guidelines.

I'm in COMPLETELY the same situation as you are.
