has anyone do the Working Locations. i still havint being emailed the list. can anyone help.

Emailing the lists seems to have broken down, I've now applied in 5 different districts and got lists for the first 3 but they haven't appeared for the final 2 (which I did on Saturday). I suspect they have got a bit overwhelemed with applications and are running behind, hopefully the missing lists will appear at some point.
  • Well Ive just tried to complete the test, but half the information was cut off! So I had to guess answers!! I've taken screen prints to prove that there was a tech issue with the test, do you think they will let me retake it? Obviously it was to late to call the helpline!

That would make it 22 applicants per post (if my calculation is correct).

That's pretty good odds isn't it, in today's climate :cool2:

I know someone who has applied and I'm just hoping they get an interview just to bolster their confidence again. They got 96% so I am keeping my fingers crossed for them.

    Good luck to everyone though

Well of the 22 applicants you'd probably find 1/4 make so many online applications they didn't spend a long time doing competency statements.

Doesn't mean they all figured out how to take the test either.

    ;)

Yes it does say it all - to save the time for a few dealing with recruitment on their side.. they waste the time of thousands of people who apply for those jobs, filling competiencies that are not relevant to this particulr post and doing a test that afain is not relavant to THIS particular post.. most of it anyway

Sat this thing on Saturday and after speaking to my dad who left the Jobcentre side of things years ago and is about to retire from a Tax Office i tend to agree with your comments. He spoke to a colleague at work today (an ex HEO) who did it yesterday and he told my dad by the end of it he had lost the will to live.

Good luck to those that did well in but i'm pretty sure i messed up the situation role part of the case studies. I think i did well with the competencies i had written and also the data/analysis side of the case studies but by the end of it i can see what the guy meant.

Don't feel so bad now as this was from a guy who has worked at HEO level and these were his comments. Are these case studies a fair reflection of an EO's role in the DWP? Maybe not for me then!

No wonder most of the Civil Servants i know want out!

I felt like a bloody hatchet-man! Cut this, slash that.......sign of the times i suppose and am told by people it will probably get worse even though they can't imagine how it can go lower than it is now.

The test is a standard test used across the Civil Service, be it MOD, DWP, SFA, so not a reflection of an EOs role in DWP :]

On a side note when they first brought out the sample questions (circa 09) there was a fair few letters in to "paper clips" or whatever it's called now complaining that it wasn't setting a very good example...ie "SPEND YOUR ENTIRE BUDGET OR LOSE IT NEXT YEAR" :D

Exactly - and this is simply wrong. Test should be specific to the role advertised.

To be honest I don't see what the big deal is re the test. It's an examination of your thought processes, the way you absorb and deal with information. It's a generic test, anyone, regardless of background, should be able to deal with the test. There are so many different EO roles within DWP that it would be impossible to come up with different tests for each specific role. Plus these advertised positions could cover any of them! A one size fits all is the only way to go in this situation.

Edited to add: You are applying for the grade of EO not a specific role.
