I think it's a bit pig headed how people are complaining that a score of 84% isn't good enough. The fact is that if all the people who have posted on this forum are all from Newcastle for example and have all got 80+% then you should be worried lol that is if you applied for the same region and you got a score "considerably" lower.

I agree. I saw the post from someone who got 84% and said 'that sucks'. The comment was based on the fact that others on the thread had received scores of 90% and above so I'm guessing the poster also saw the scores of those (like me) who scored significantly lower. I found it a bit insensitive, especially since I was pretty upset at my score. Thank you for also picking up on this.

Funnily enough, my area is the Newcastle region. I scored 20/24 and 200/336. I was told people would receive notification that they'd got an interview or not from 26th January onwards, though it is likely to be a couple of weeks after this date.
  • "Upon receipt of your application you will be emailed (within 2 working days) a copy of the Working Locations form for the area to which you have applied. As part of the application process you must complete and return the Working Locations Form within 3 working days"

    has anyone got this yet.

If you applied for Yorkshire where the average may only be 64% and you scored 71% applying for that region you should be good. The question what people should be asking is which areas people have applied to..... So guys what were your scores and which areas have you applied to lol??

P.S any ideas on how long will it take for the dwp to get back to you in regards to success to an interview???

Someone posted earlier in the thread with some ideas on how high or low a test score (depending on estimated number of applicants) would need to be to make sure you got to the sifting stage.

In the last exercise I took part in (2009) the wait varied from 2 weeks to 1 month to find out you were successful.

Job Description is in the advert ;)

yes I know but in the same advert there is also a link to JD - a link that does not work
  • Not pig headed I don't think, just genuine concern - as others have mentioned its not an absolute score, its a relative measure so what matters is the number of applicants in a district rather than the average score in that district (which is technically 50%) - given the current job market I would expect most districts will have 1000s of applicants so its reasonable to worry about your score, it appears to be the first barrier and might be a tough one.

I would agree though that as we don't know how many applicants there are, how many people's competencies they want to run through or how many are wanted for interview all this speculating and estimating is just guesswork and we shouldn't be putting too much stock in other people's scores given that districts are separate.

I think we should hear about interviews in a couple of weeks judging by the timeline someone in the know has posted earlier in the thread (can't remember specifically who).
  • If you don't hear anything for a while I wouldn't stress too much, last time they recruited I submitted application in November, interview in Jan and heard nothing until late March about a start date. They're hardly in a rush. Willing to bet the permanent contracts are replaced with Fixed term ones by Spring too (Since they're obsessed with headcount).
  • So how long after you did your online tests did you get your percentile mark??? As I and 2other friends have not had our scores as yet!

You don't get sent it (I didnt anyway) - go onto your civil service online account, click on review applications, and there should be a button on bottom left saying feedback - click that

Normally they interview 4 candidates to 1 vacancy

So with 100 jobs there would be probably be 400 interviews (based on interview windows posted previously)

For competencies which are graded against the descriptors, 1-3 = Poor Evidence (get any marks in a competency this low and you won't get an interview normally), 4-6 = Good Evidence, 7-9 = Excellent Evidence

To get 400 candidates you can estimate that they would need 1000 candidates to sift (as an estimated to 60% of applications won't score highly enough, which would also fit the estimated screening time).

In the past the districts with the highest number of applicants would get maybe 5000-6000 applications, others maybe 3000.

So I am predicting a cut off between 60% to 80% depending on the district.

These jobs are supposed to be starting from April so they shouldn't be hanging around ;).
  • There have been over 50,000 applications for these posts so far nationwide.

The "passmark" will be decided upon tomorrow, after HR know how many many have applied to each district. It is likely that the passmark will be different for each area, and will depend on the number of applicants and how well everyone did.

So, dependant on what your score was, the competencies that you provided may or may not be looked at. Seems a ridiculous way of doing things. I know of many people who spent days on their competencies, but scored poorly (50% and below) and will probably not even have their applications looked at.

Those scoring over 85% and complaining that their mark was low need to get a grip, also.
