  • Does anyone know what percentile they have gone down to in North West region for sift purposes? Has anyone had email yet from North West for interview or rejection?

    Thanks

Just received my competencies for the North West and the scores are even worse that the North Wales. The feedback for each competency was 'Insufficient examples that was specific to competency' That's me out of the running. I'm really sad:(:(

I don't get this, were we supposed to give more than one example or only one?

One example in a very strict format in under 200 words. Not an easy task. I think I managed to scrape through with 4 4's and a 5, but god knows how.
  • No it will not - this is what we have been told week after week after week... sigh....

I just can not get my head round the fact that East London set the pass mark at 35%.

Everyone raised their pass mark but East London lowered theirs - WHY?

To accomodate whom exactly I wonder......,

Hmmm... 35% is just bizarre. But then the whole process is. Makes you wonder at some of the motives behind it though.
When you're going through hell, keep going...

I gave one example in each but on the feedback it's sounds like they've marked me down for doing that. I just feel like they didn't like my examples as I based them on my previous job role as an EO.

I haven't received my rejection email for the North West, but I think it's only a matter of time considering my competency scores. I don't know what the minimum percentile score is but as other regions are sifting as low as 36% percent I can only assume they'll do the same- but that is just my assumption.
  • Hiya all - newbie here. And I'm not going to impress you with my stunning marks so far. So don't bite me.

This AM I spoke to the helpline to try and discover what's happening in my area, which is South London. Apparently the pass mark for the online test was around 50% (percentile) for most regions (including SL), but it went as low as 36% in others (rural places where it's harder to recruit staff). In one district (I think he said Northumbria, but I'm not sure - it's well up North anyway) it was raised to get rid of more people: their application was absolutely HUGE apparently, so they had to cull before the application form sift. That's all I know on the tests (I managed 71% btw, and according to a calculation someone had to convert the percentile mark to a real %age, I scored ... 70%!).

On application forms I was told this morning that any score with a 3 in it (even if it's 3, 9, 9, 9, 9) is a straight fail and you won't get an interview. However, that means if you get a lowly five 4s, you're still in with a shout. But again, the districts reserve the right to change this: if some of them need to cull further to get the interview numbers down, they might say anything with a 4 in it is a fail. But, phew, the guy did say that so far he's not heard of any district doing this. You might also consider that they need at some point to actually meet people and see if they're made of the right stuff, whereof high scoring is not necessarily the be-all and end-all.

On dates, some areas have handed them down, others haven't. South London currently has no dates yet to give, but everyone will be given at least 5 working days to get stuff together because you need to take documentation with you. The guy says that 'bad news tends to travel fast', so, as with test fails, app form fails will probably be notified sooner rather than later. Always check your CS website jobs, not your email, as they've been having a few problems on communication.

Last, there were 60,000 applicants for these 4,000 posts, so don't feel too bad if you get chopped out. All the best to you in whatever you do, whether it's this or something else. My AF scores? 4, 5, 7, 5 & 6, so I'm a bit bloody vulnerable on that 4. But we'll see.

    Hi all,

I've only just found this forum...thank heavens that I'm not the only one wondering what's going on!

I just checked and found that I have competence scores of 6, 6, 6, 6 & 5 (in Operational Delivery) and a score of 83%. The score on the test isn't too bad (although I've seen some cleverclogs on here have in the high 90s) but I don't know what the competence scores mean. What's it out of?? 6 seems fairly decent if they're out of 10 but if anyone has any info, it'd be gratefully received.

    Thanks, Graham
  • A friend of mines mother works within a DWP department and he has told me that there will be further tests at the interview.....

Anyone know anything about this yet?

Apparently they're out of 9 and anything over 3 may indicate you qualify for the next (interview) stage but that's not set in stone.

Out of nine. But it's about how low you go, not how high. As I've said anything with a 3 in it is a straight fail - your lowest is a 5, so at the moment you're in with a shout at an interview.
