Hi Parfittme  Well done on your scores.

Where did you work as an AO? I was at Alex House as an EO until August, I wish they could just call us back.

I'm still in touch with some of my ex-colleagues who have applied and they're all at the same stage as us, looks like it's just a waiting game now. I'm fed up of logging into the cs site to see if there's been a change.

  • I literally just checked now and they were posted up...I'll actually post some of my answers on here later and hopefully you guys might be able to shed some light on where I may have gone wrong

I was based in the Aberdare Job Centre originally on 18 month contract but extended to 2 years. Unfortunately they are "over staffed" at band B level so only had internal excercise this time! Have only put down 2 locations/offices this time as I don't drive so I may not be so lucky!!

I'll have a look for you: I'm no expert though, although seem to get progressively higher and higher scores each time I try, so the feedback I'm getting of people seems to be helping :)

Sadly, they're the kind of thing that get better with practice: so far I'm on 15 failed internal applications based on sift alone. And those are frameworks that i'm familiar with, have actively been working towards etc... and still it's down to whether someone likes (or dare I say UNDERSTANDS) what you've written.

I'v scored better on this application than I ever have in the past, and part of me is convinced it's just because it's someone else looking at it... *sigh*

Building Capability - Behavioural Rating 3

Behavioural Comment The examples provided throughout the application provided very limited evidence of the required behaviours at the appropriate level. A good example should clearly state what happened, what you did and the final outcome.

  • Heres one of my examples... Feedback good and bad much appreciated!

Operational Delivery – Ensuring a professional performance
As part of my role within the third sector I was required to deliver employability training to 50 local residents within the Sandwell region. As part of this project I was very meticulous in my approach creating a written detailed plan of what I wanted to achieve and by what given dates.

The initial part of the project involved a client engagement whereby I would be assessing client’s strengths, weaknesses and work areas of interest and experience. I wished to complete this area within a specific time frame which would allow me to move onto the next stage of the project.

Problems occurred however in the fact that I did not anticipate that the regular clients within the community centre would not be enough. Therefore I took on a proactive approach of visiting local job centres in aiming to attract and sell the project to prospective clients in which the feedback was positive from all involved.

After I had engaged with the 50 individuals, it was a case of continual 1:1 personal support and mentoring from online job support, creation of CVs and cover letters, application form help and overall confidence building.

I am proud to say of the 50 individuals engaged with, 8 were placed into voluntary, part time or full time positions. As a fully fledged trustee of the organisation I still play an active role in the organisation and often encounter visits from clients I have worked with which is something I find truly rewarding.

Although at least they have hinted at that it was your structure that was off... more than some folks have gotten.
