lol Ive just realised it is over 248 words, to be fair I have had some constructive positive criticism provided to me by another user and I can slightly see certain areas but even with some minor adjustments I believe for what is written there should have scored between a 4-7

The content is there for at least a 4/5, but they wouldn't have even looked at words 201-248, so that's your 'result' bit straight out the window :(

Have seen your PM, by the way, but am only allowed to send one every 60 mins as I'm sill a noob :)

True with minor adjustments it could have got a higher score.
I did the same for the competency I got a low score for and highlighted some achievements whilst I worked at JCP. It is still a single detailed scenario they require.

As to the 248 words. That is a failure to adhere to the set instructions so it would mean an automatic fail :(

It's not that they wouldn't have looked at anything over 200 words. If I remember correctly, if you pasted over 200 words it automatically cut off the 201st word and over.. so maybe they didn't see it all...?

I was unable to go past 200 words in my application, it deleted any extra words, was this not the same for everyone?

Yes Black Country.... What the hell... here is another one of my answers .... Feedback much appreciated

    Delivering a Customer Focused Service
I have been fortunate in regards to my working life been highly customer orientated working within the retail environment as well as the third sector.
Through experiences during my time at Asda, I believe that in order to ensure excellent customer service you must be able to think like the consumer and treat them as you would want to be treated if in the same situation. On occasions I have identified poor customer service whereby colleagues were pointing to products rather than taking the consumer to the product. I proactively sought out colleagues opinions on the benefits they and the company can derive from, taking the customer to the product, building a rapport with the customer making their shopping a pleasant experience. Not only does this make the customer that extra special but I believe extra self motivation and confidence may arise through interacting without various people, building on communication skills, more importantly going that extra step further leading to long standing relationships with the organisation

Sorry if this sounds harsh but this isn't really an example and the bits I have highlighted are all about what you believe and not what you have done. If you had re-hashed the bit in the middle and said how you had identified the issue what you had done about it how you had worked with colleagues and what the outcome was then it would have been an example

Unfortunately that was a very general example of customer service - nothing specific in it. You really needed to pinpoint an exact accorance that occurred that you could step through with STAR on.

Problem is you say you have engaged and created effective relationships but give no evidence of how -you need to explain how you engaged i.e did you have to reassure people, explain things to them, persuade them ?
What did you consider might be barriers to them and how did you overcome them. Unfotunately saying you engaged is not the same as demonstrating how you did this.
Its really not about the task its showing the behaviours you demonstrated in carrying it out

Thank you for posting those Xena I am really starting to get an idea of how my own comps could have been better. I did not included results in all mine. I agree with Karins feedback but I still say it's a big ask in 200 words. :o

It wouldn't let me type more than 200 words in the box.

Got an interview on the 24th, just got an email.

Nope, not with DWP.... with NHS LOL

By the time DWP gets their act together .... LOL

Fingers crossed - so want to get that job......the NHS one

No change in DWP status of course....
  • Thanks karin, again all positive stuff....

I suppose the problem I like many others probably had was that the question asked "state your experience with the comptency" which led to me to perhaps give a generalised statement how I am in the workplace without going into detail
