I was based in the Aberdare Job Centre originally on 18 month contract but extended to 2 years. Unfortunately they are "over staffed" at band B level so only had internal excercise this time! Have only put down 2 locations/offices this time as I don't drive so I may not be so lucky!!

I only put down 2 for the same reason, it wouldn't be worth me working outside Cardiff as once I add on the cost of trains/buses then I'd be on less money than I'm on now. To be honest though, I only really want one of my choices and that's to go back to 'my' Job Centre in Canton, Cardiff. I miss everyone there, it was such a good place to work.

Fingers crossed and I'll let you know if I hear anything my end.

Heres one of my examples... Feedback good and bad much appreciated!

Operational Delivery – Ensuring a professional performance
As part of my role within the third sector I was required to deliver employability training to 50 local residents within the Sandwell region. As part of this project I was very meticulous in my approach creating a written detailed plan of what I wanted to achieve and by what given dates.

The initial part of the project involved a client engagement whereby I would be assessing client’s strengths, weaknesses and work areas of interest and experience. I wished to complete this area within a specific time frame which would allow me to move onto the next stage of the project.

Problems occurred however in the fact that I did not anticipate that the regular clients within the community centre would not be enough. Therefore I took on a proactive approach of visiting local job centres in aiming to attract and sell the project to prospective clients in which the feedback was positive from all involved.

After I had engaged with the 50 individuals, it was a case of continual 1:1 personal support and mentoring from online job support, creation of CVs and cover letters, application form help and overall confidence building.

I am proud to say of the 50 individuals engaged with, 8 were placed into voluntary, part time or full time positions. As a fully fledged trustee of the organisation I still play an active role in the organisation and often encounter visits from clients I have worked with which is something I find truly rewarding.

The fact that you have all this rich experience of helping the unemployed is irrelevant because what you wrote didn't fit their elusive, inflexible structures, which DO NOT find the right people. Their recruitment method is a farce.

I'm looking for something to criticise.. but can't really, you've used STAR, you said how you've engaged customers, applied judgement and created effective relationships...

but maybe if I'm being picky, you could have been a bit more specific about what the task was.

Initially it seems the Task was to deliver the project in a timely manner but then your Action section focuses on how you developed the skills of the clients. Or maybe I have misunderstood.

Even still, deserves more than 3

  • lol Ive just realised it is over 248 words, to be fair I have had some constructive positive criticism provided to me by another user and I can slightly see certain areas but even with some minor adjustments I believe for what is written there should have scored between a 4-7
  • Yes Black Country.... What the hell... here is another one of my answers .... Feedback much appreciated

    Delivering a Customer Focused Service
I have been fortunate in regards to my working life been highly customer orientated working within the retail environment as well as the third sector.
Through experiences during my time at Asda, I believe that in order to ensure excellent customer service you must be able to think like the consumer and treat them as you would want to be treated if in the same situation. On occasions I have identified poor customer service whereby colleagues were pointing to products rather than taking the consumer to the product. I proactively sought out colleagues opinions on the benefits they and the company can derive from, taking the customer to the product, building a rapport with the customer making their shopping a pleasant experience. Not only does this make the customer that extra special but I believe extra self motivation and confidence may arise through interacting without various people, building on communication skills, more importantly going that extra step further leading to long standing relationships with the organisation

Problem is you say you have engaged and created effective relationships but give no evidence of how -you need to explain how you engaged i.e did you have to reassure people, explain things to them, persuade them ?
What did you consider might be barriers to them and how did you overcome them. Unfotunately saying you engaged is not the same as demonstrating how you did this.
Its really not about the task its showing the behaviours you demonstrated in carrying it out
