Yeah how awful of me to offer to help! I googled it today when I got my result and found this thread.

And I'm a son on a b*tch am I? You sound perfect for a customer facing job. I don't know your score but from your bitter posts I guess you failed The job seeking public have dodged a bullet.

I bet you're glad you found this thread lol.

Big congrats on your score, thanks for sharing and for your offer of help.

Don't rise to the bait. If you get the job you'll be dealing with enough verbal attacks a fair bit of the time and you'll be expected to keep your cool.

Firstly, I'd just like to thank both the two guys who posted the helpline phone number for me.

    Much appreciated :)

I'm not 100% sure I'm going to ring. I'd like to, but I think in situations like this alot of times you get dismissed as having sour-grapes.

I just read through my Feedback again. For my two that scored '6' -they were both refered to as "very good examples, very good evidence".

But no comment as to why they were knocked down and not 9,8, or 7.

One of my '4' marks, was flimsy on reflection, but I knew that was the weak one. So thats probably fair enough.

But the other '4' and the '5' - I'd swear they werent actually read judging by the comments. My answer and their comments don't actually match-up at all.

No duckie I haven't failed, not had my results back yet. I'll be sure to share the news when I do though.

Can you honestly not see how you're coming across?
I think out of you and me I know who I'd rather have as an advisor, you're priceless :rotfl:

You're not related to this chap are you?

No I can't see. I posted my score, I said that better people than me will have been turned down because it's a bit of a game, I offered to help but said I probably wouldn't post mine either, I then explained that was because I didn't want to explicitly make it obvious who I was for fear of jeopardising my application or my current job.

You then accuse me of lying.

How exactly have I come across?

My advice (not that you asked for it lol) is to call them and point out the obvious ones. What have you got to lose? At least you could then say you'd tried.

Are you really that bothered by what a stranger in cyberspace thinks of you?

There's no need to waste your time justifying yourself.

There's already too much nonsense cluttering up this thread when all most of us want is to read and share useful information.

First post but have found the forum very useful.

I spoke to someone involved in the sifting process extensively on Monday and raised alot of questions from here.

Why is the test score so low?
Reason is because the test is heavily weighted towards the 12 questions where you have to select the most effective most ineffecitve response and grade them. The 24 numeracy/literacy questions are outweighted completely. The percentile you get is not a sign of your capabilities. For example

    Candidate A
    Numeracy/Literacy - 23/24
    Action planning - 200/360
    Percentile - 68%

    Candidate B
    Numeracy/Literacy - 20/24
    Action Planning - 260/360
    Percentile - 91%

To people on the forum, candidate B would seem more intelligent and appropriate for the job. Yet candidate B cant answer complex numeracy/literacy questions.

A large percentage of people who ranked above the 80% percentile scored lower than 23/24. Most of the candidates who scored 23 or 24/24 for numeracy/literacy are in the 60-70% percentile.

After that you are graded on compentencies each statement out of 9. This is only the case if more applicants have passed the test for interview slots. Interviews have only been sent out to places where there are less applicants per job.

If you score 3 or less its bad. Its not a fail. But if enough people pass this for interview slots you wont get aslot. If not enough slots are filled through compentency stage then you could get an interview. if you feel the grading is harsh then its the same for everyone in each district as a handful of people are doing the shifting per district. They will be harsher if the applicants are more for the district.

So a 6 in birmingham could be a 3 in black country due to more people applying in the black country. Sound weird yes but they have to find the right candidates.

The final point is the dwp wants hardworking, complex talented people and not robots who know how to get into a system by saying what you want to hear. This process has failed as the people become unmotivated quickly and think they are better and bigger than the job itself.

We have to see how this all plays out. I'm just pleased that there are people recognising that numeracy/literacy are key skills.

    my score
    numeracy/literacy - 24/24
    action planning - 210/360
    percentile - 71%

Makes perfect sense. Action planning was a gamble, no correct answer. Hence the reason my percentile wasnt over 80%.

Has anybody heard anything from either Tyne and Wear or Tees Valley? My wifes and my status hasnt changed at all and we are getting quite annoyed with this whole process. Im curious to see my competency scores, couldnt careless if ive secured an interview just want the feedback now after spending days on my statements.

I know someone (currently working at DWP as an AO) who has had his feedback results for Tyne and Wear (6's and 7's)

    I'm an R. But another mate's a G. And she's not had anything either....

I think they must must be sticking them on in the order they sift them... although I applied after the afore mentioned mate too, so I dunno. Sorry :)

I'm an R too and haven't heard anything for BC or the others I have applied for. So could be something in the alphabet thing?

I don't know if I have got an interview yet but I have been looking on the website for questions asked at previous EO recruitments and I wondered how you know what question applies to which competency as the interviewers don't seem to state which competency they are
    referring to !!

It is usual (in Tyne and Wear region at least) to state the competency at the outset so the candidate knows which competency they are being asked about
  • Mommarat jess star is an r but "has" received feedback but her m8s who is a g hasn't , your an r and haven't and I'm an s and havent:j
