This thread has been running for ages, people supporting each other and a bit of banter, you didn't feel compelled to join in before.
Well, I've only found the thread today, and I applied for the job ages ago too...
FWIW, there will be more jobs coming out soon, and if folks are struggling with statements, why NOT have a 2nd pair of eyes over it? Stands you in better stead for next time doesn't it...??
Pretty ambitious form of trolling, giving up your own time to help others... *shrugs*0 -
Spelling errors in my feedback also, hardly inspires confidence in the decision-makers.0

This is my 1st ever post, but I've been reading this thread ever since my own EO application.
I applied to 2 regions, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.
I scored 80% (Derbyshire) and 76% (S.Yorks) for the online tests.
I just got my Competencies marked today for Derbyshire. My application status now says, "on hold", which doesnt read too promising.
My scores were 4,6,5,4,6.
Which seem quite low and I'd guess I'm out now, or at the back of the pecking order.
So I'm gutted after all the efforts.
What really upset me was that whoever marked them gave feedback littered with spelling errors, and this person also made a couple of comments that my answer would have benefited including certain things ...that i went back and read, and were clearly included!!!!
I'm really upset that my hardwork was marked by someone who cannot spell, and doesn't seem great at reading either. Makes you wonder how they got their job?
The only time I've ever done anything Competency based was my final interview at the Assessment centre when I joined the Police Force in 2006. I did really well at that, and scored an extremely high mark. I scored the top mark not just out of my day, but out of 40 people for 2 weeks.
I've heard nothing at all from S.Yorkshire, it just says still under review.
But from reading the Derbyshire results this afternoon, and reading my Feedback (deciphering between spelling errors), I can honestly say, never been so disappointed and down-hearted by any job application feedback as this. Even reading back my answers just now, I truly feel I could not do better even if I had a second chance.
If you've been marked down for not including something which you clearly have done, can you appeal that?
On the other hand, a lot of people are getting comp scores back in some categories that are under 3, so I'm sure you're not out of the running yet.0 -

Ring them and make this point, before the interview dates. They may well re-mark if you appeal it0 -

Yeah, funny that, since he posted, there are 2 more people who have "only just found the thread"
I know what I think
I'll leave it at that.0 -

Don't be disheartened, you've probably scored enough to pass, you just haven't 'aced' it.
MarkyMark, you're not making yourself very popular, because of the way you're coming across. It's one thing being pleased with yourself, quite another to point and laugh at people who haven't done quite so well. Congratulations, truly. Just hope your empathy skills are a lot better IRL than they're coming across in cyberspace.:)0 -

If it helps these are the areas I have applied to also. I used the same competencies for both and my scores for South Yorkshire are higher than those for Derbyshire.
However, like you I was disappointed with the actual comments on my Derbyshire application as they appear to have failed to even read 2 of them properly!0 -
Sorry jess star where does your surname come in the alphabet , I'm an s and still have not received feedback0
-
Well I am in the north west area and have just received my feedback, I'm in the first 5 of the alphabet for those interested!
I got a 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Happy with the 7 and 8, not so with the 4 and 5.
Hopefully more north west scores will appear soon!0 -

I'm an R. But another mate's a G. And she's not had anything either....
I think they must must be sticking them on in the order they sift them... although I applied after the afore mentioned mate too, so I dunno. Sorry0
