Click start, click run, type services.msc then wait for the services box, check print spooler is set to automatic, click start the service

Did you uninstall the printer software before re-installing it?

Hope the new printer works out

Hp3050A all in one colour wireless printer, a snip under £35 and free delivery on super saver option, inks are very reasonable too at £15 for the genuine set:D

I got this myself and its really good, as it also has eprint meaning you can print to it from anywhere if it can be emailed and is also "Airprint" enabled if you need to print from iPhones or iPads:)

I have been set the task of choosing a wireless printer for my parents. It needs to be:

    • Reliable in terms of wireless useage
    • Moderate usage - so reasonably priced replacement ink
    • Ability to scan
    • Not too big in size
    • Under £100
Any help or advice would be appreciated as I don't know where to start. Thanks

Check out Tesco Direct where you can easily find a printer meeting your above-mentioned requirements. Once you have some names down list them here and maybe we'll be able to give you some specific advise : )

Staples has the Canon MX410 all-in-one (printer, copier, scanner, fax and wifi) reduced from £120 to £40 in the January sale - comes with two full cartridges - many printers these days come with half-full cartrisges, so this is a real bargain - even get it for £35 if you have the discount voucher.

    terrible
printing hangs on wifi (gave up and moved it from the desired location to use wired)
printer still crashes on sometimes hourly basis.
    HP support tools don't work
no reply from my support email
actual print function is fine, however all the lovely extra features are pointless

I agree, HP software hasn't been the greatest recently - IMHO HP has gone downhill - used to be the best.

Oh, should add that most manufacturers provide software to print from the web.........

my daughter recently bought a kodak 3 in 1 wireless from Partners, was about £60 and she's really pleased with it. Main reason she chose it was the ink was much cheaper than the other makes. We've had an epson 3 in 1 for ages and that's good - but I do find replacement ink expensive and whenever we've used non epson on printers in the past they've never been the same quality.

did you check that(and the figures used) or just assume it is because of the ads?

Well so far I've not experienced any of those issues you listed, then again mine is still only a couple of weeks old.
Also have a HP B1110 at work and that works fine as well, only problem with that one was getting the computers on our network to work with it as a wireless printer, all had to be set up via usb first then converted to a wireless connection:)

I had a Cannon mp270 before the HP3050A. The cannon used to sit there for ages winding itself up like it was coiling up a spring, once it decided it would print, it was very fast.

The HP on the other hand is almost instant start for me, the slowest printing from it has been using 'Airprint', which is slow sometimes.
Even using the eprint function is fast:)
