Hp3050A all in one colour wireless printer, a snip under £35 and free delivery on super saver option, inks are very reasonable too at £15 for the genuine set:D
I got this myself and its really good, as it also has eprint meaning you can print to it from anywhere if it can be emailed and is also "Airprint" enabled if you need to print from iPhones or iPads:)
That,s enough for what I print.0 -
Have you considered compatibles? Check for prices but available here with a refill by post option for some Lexmark's

Epson have more readily available compatibles than most printers
Most of these have 19ml of ink per cartridge
Seem to be the same company but have different inks available??

what do you think? no onus as usual. always taken your advice in past, reliable:beer:0 -
Lasers are supposed to be more forgiving if used infrequently, and if it is for documents etc, would be a good move, though check the availability of compatibles, page yield etc.
Sure I saw Samsung tend to be locked to their own toners0 -

I had an epson for the last 4 years with a CISS.
Due to recent inactivity, the black has become completely clogged and all my efforts to declog it have been futile. You cannot remove the print head to soak it. This is the probolem with Epson printers.
I have now gone for a Canon MG5350 - £100 from comet, with £30 canon cashback offer (so £70 total). With a CISS for £55 (approx cost of a set of original cartridges), I'm hoping for another 4 years at least from this without buying any more ink! The printhead is removable so no probalems with ink cloggage I hope.
The printer is all-in-one (i.e. scanner too), so rather bulky in size, but it has two in-trays, and the wireless gubbins too. Reviews are pretty good, moderate ink usage seems to be the main down side (though with a CISS this becomes irrelevant). Kodak are reportedly the most frugal on ink usage.
Oh, and there's a colour laser from dell on ebuyer at the moment for £55. Gotta remember that replacement toner can be expensive.0 -

If the printer has been replaced and is in the nothing to lose group, then you could consider getting some head cleaner - flush and either a refillable cartridge or drilling two holes in the top of an empty cartridge or the complete set of cartridges and then installing them to run head cleans.
This can be applied directly to the printhead, though check for better prices, or it may be available in a local shop

Not guaranteed to work but not too expensive to try, and if it does work you have a spare printer.
If a printer is left idle then printing a nozzle check each week can help.0 -

It,s never worked right since. I contacted lex via chatline, and they got me going again, spooler was playing up.you helped me for ages with spooler if you recall? Now however, it just keeps trying to print, heads come half way across, and just does that ad-infinitum.
I used to clear it using notepad, type test, print, it would try several times then stop. I could then carry on as normal then, the gllitch cleared, until the next day, and had to repeat .
Today however, it just keeps trying, glitch won,t clear, no docs pending, so something electronic must have stuck. When I tried to re-instal with my cd, it wouldn,t, tried lex,s from download, same, drivers weren,t installing.I let lex have pc remotely for 45 mins, she made it worse, had to wind back to restore point, and managed to keep it going, till today. used it last week and regularly printed a test page to keep it fluid and not clogging. I,ve ordered new one from comet online, here wed.
I cannot even turn it off, without pulling plug.it says no connection to printer, but everything,s correct.I think it,s like me, given up:rotfl:
just hope new one doesn,t suffer same.
Cannot even remember how to check if spooler is still on, can you???? worth a look, see if it,s turned itself off again0
