    Here well not £15, but a bit cheaper instead:)

    The dodgy wifi connections are between your pc and router I thought?

    Your printer doesn't have to connect to the pc, it connects to your router. If you're getting an SSID error, log into the router and check to see its broadcasting your SSID.
    While your there check to see if it has something called WPS. This is the easiest way to connect your printer to the router.
    If its there (as its new I expect it is) follow the instructions there to connect the printer up to the router.

    Are you still using the ethernet cable to connect the pc to the router?

    Once the printer was connected to the network, I put the disc in the pc and selected the top option, then I selected the network (ethernet/wireless) option.
    From there the software just got on with it, and installed the printer.

    You have to connect the printer to your network first for this to work:)

    With regards to your 1 gripe about copying, I dont have the function to do that from the computer, as its not a worry for me as I scan/copy from the printer anyway. As scanning I can select to scan to my pc from the printer or do it from the pc. Copying is literally printed there and then so no option for wireless is need for this or control from the pc:)
    Hi callistris, I have just set up wireless using wps on router, and report printout says all ok, encrypton , ok,2 seconds.
    however, when I try to print wireless using notepad test page, even anything, it stays in pending mode, until I put usb cable in, then it will print it ok. According to report, wifi is set up ok, steady blue light on wifi button on printer display? when I first set it up, it didn,t detect my router, said carry on and do as i,ve just done using wsp button later on router...copying is ok, old one had view/scan/copy all on screen display,thick me , forgot, I had to be by printer to do it.:embarasse
    thanks for ink link.
    glad I didn,t go Kodak, filed for bankruptcy today, gonna have to get new digi camera now, won,t get film for old Brownie 127/box:rotfl:

    You wouldn't really need the copying feature to be available on-screen at the computer.

    If you are copying, you need to be next to the copier to feed the machine with what you are copying - you wouldn't want to be moving backwards and forwards between both machines every time you fed a sheet of paper through.

    Your wireless problem must be between your router and your pc. If you follow the instructions as they appear on-screen from the set-up disc, the whole process is automatic and doesn't need the ethernet connection.
    yes dave, wasn,t really with it yesterday.:embarasse
    Even though now it says wireless set up ok, still have to use usb cable??? still a glitch somewhere.I will try moving printer closer to router,report says signal low, yet it,s next to pc, which says signal excellent??

    update;;;moved printer next to router, says signal excellent, wireless ok. IP address ok, but still won,t print test document wireless, stays pending on spooler till I plug usb cable in, and it automatically prints the pending document;:(
  • Sounds to me like you've installed the printer under the usb settings?

    Which version of windows are you using?

    Hi callistris. When I try it without usb, the printer status status says offline, although the printer says wireless on and ok;
    as soon as I plug usb in, printer status goes to ready, and prints ok;edit, sorry, vista, I did set it up usb mode originally, because of wireless signal, but just reset it to wireless today, using wsp button router and pressing the wifi button for 3 seconds on printer as per instructions on printer display. just followed all the prompts, might have to remove and start again from disc.I originally
    set it up with my pc running with ethernet cable in, pc not on wireless. don,t see that making any difference, do you?
  • Right I see what you've done:)

    As you've installed the printer on the pc as connected by usb, your pc will look for this connection only, and won't look for the printer on your network.

    It sounds as though the printer is now connected fine to the network, so you can leave that alone now, we just have to get the pc set up right.

    I think it will be best if you uninstall the printer software from the pc and start again. But this time install the printer as ethernet/wireless not USB:)

    When set up correctly, under printer/devices your printer model will show there with (Network) underneath it:)

    Hi, According to the instructions off the help site connectivity, it said if I,ve already installed the printer software, that,s ok;
    The easiest way to go wireless is not to remove software , but press wsp button on router 3 seconds, then press wifi button on printer, then press wsp button again on router for 3 seconds, and it will connect auto to router.This I did, and it said it was successful, and asked if I wanted a report printed.Yes, report said wifi is on, all ok, gave all details of wireless set up.I will reinstal from scratch as you say.:beer:

    The HP B110 which is sat behind me here at work is wireless and the software with that enables you to convert from a USB installation to a Wireless installation, which is what I had to do with every pc running on the network here at work, as it refused to work directly wireless:(

    Our HP3050A doesn't have this function on the install disc, so the only way is to uninstall and re install:)

    You should be sorted soon with this:)

    Hi callistris, been on it till now.Took it off, re-installed usb/wireless,ok
    wouldn,t connect wireless unless it sat beside router, which is in kitchen, I,m in lounge with laptop .tried it with usb next to pc, cannot locate printer.and it,s plugged in via usb,
    took it all off again, still wouldn,t connect via usb/wireless, so I connected usb only again, same as first instal, ok now, but obviously not wireless.
    My house is not wifi friendly, that,s why I wasn,t bothered about it, and I shall stick with cable.
    when it sat next to router, it ran wireles fine, no probs, and cable, but not when I brought them both in the lounge.niether. Got PC connected with long ethernet cable underfloor.
    never mind eh, it can be made wifi later via "printer setup software option in start up menu". HP,s words , not mine, when it asked if I still wanted usb only;
    It,s back to where I started yesterday, so only time lost, it,s working,so I,m leaving it be now.
    Thanks for all your help.:beer: Much appreciated.
    Told you I was lucky to have bad luck:justt wish I was wrong now and then.:rotfl:
  • I'm stumped as to why the PC thats connected via ethernet cant locate the printer:(
    As thats how mine is connected, and mine works fine.

    You mention a laptop as well. Have you installed the software as ethernet/wireless option on both machines?

    Just to check on the wireless settings page that was printed out from the printer when that was setup, what ip address is designated to the printer?

    On the pc that's connected via ethernet, can you put this ip address into your address bar on a browser and access the printers UI?
