hello everyone , my son is 15 years old and has always been allergic to eggs. My tips for fantastic egg free cakes is this ....
Choose any cake recipe that says use 1 egg (not more).
Then instead of using a egg , replace with 1 teaspoon of golden syrup and 1 teaspoon of baking powder and a dash of milk.
It gives perfect results everytime.
Today I made this recipe ...
and as you can see it does'nt rely heavily on eggs , it says use 1 egg which I replaced with the above method, it came out huge :j.

Every time I think of this I want to weep a small tear: my little granddaughter is highly allergic to eggs and her nursery know this and are very vigilant and sensible about it. When my DD collected her from nursery sometime before Xmas the jolly nursery lady said ' they've all had a lovely day, and there was special cake for tea'. My DD said nothing, knowing they wouldn't have given the little one any eggy cake, and indeed when they got home a sad little girl said 'I don't like bananas, Mummy' and it was clear that they'd kindly given her a 'nana instead of forbidden cake, but she's never liked them and felt very sad and left out. So thank you everyone for lovely egg-free recipes on this thread - I have noted almost all of them and any minute now am going to swamp the little one with your wonderful ideas.

Obviously it's for a whole cake, but you could easily make individual cakes, just dn't bake them too long! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
You can also replace an egg with a very well mashed ripe banana. If you do this for fairy cakes, you may want to add a good splash of vanilla extract to counteract faint banana flavour.

Hi,
My basic fairy cake is
4 oz margarine, 4 oz sugar - cream together with a little vanilla essence. Add
8 oz S r flour, mix with enough milk to make the usual consistency.
to this you can add raisins, lemon, choc chips, caraway seeds - the usual bun additives.
Bake as usual, either as buns or a cake

you can use a banana instead of an egg, just mush it up
or 1tbsp of vinegar can be used - the mixture will curdle, but cooks ok, and doesnt taste of vinegar

WW II Cake
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 Tablespoons oil (chose an oil with no flavor)
1 Tablespoon vinegar (chose a mild vinegar like white vinegar)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cold water
Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit. Put dry ingredients in sifter. Sift into ungreased cake pan (8" x 8"). Make 3 holes in dry mixture. Pour oil into first hole, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third. Pour water over all. Stir with fork until evenly blended. Bake 35 - 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
