Pleasure! Look forward to reading your posts soon! If anyone is having any difficulty with mindfulness or just life in general, I'd encourage you to post here and perhaps we can come to a resolution together. I always brought difficulties to the mindfulness classes. One I was particularly bothered about was my noisy neighbours. Although I've now moved, in my old house my neighbours were extremely noisy. They had young children who ran riot and often played loud music late at night. I found this unbearable and often wore earplugs in the house, running away from the noise and experiencing 'fireworks' of anxiety in my chest and stomach and pounding headaches whenever the noise begun. My mindfulness teacher advised me to do something scary: turn towards the noise instead of turning away from it. Mindfulness is about approaching difficulties rather than running away from them. I tried this: I sat in the living room and when the noise begun, I watched what was going on in my body without engaging in thought and 'observed' the sounds without engaging in my usual dialogue of 'how dare they do that, inconsiderate so 'n' sos...' This really helped me take a step back from my thoughts and perceive the noise differently. The next time something causes you stress or anxiety, just watch it and don't engage with thoughts. This will give you a little distance between yourself and the object of your anxiety, hopefully enough distance to see that it's not all that scary after all...0 -
Not had a great day today, with this and that, mostly down to thoughts of what might happen:o:oHave done a couple of breathing meditations, and will do a body scan before bed:D:D
Hope the rest of you are ok, and stay mindful xx:D:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi Candygirl,
Sorry to hear that you've not had a great day. I think sometimes when we have a bad day or experience, our thoughts can increase the suffering and we can end up feeling really bad. I hope the mindfulness has helped you tonight xx0 -
Candy sorry to hear that and it is easy to forego the practise when you are not feeling great but that is when you need it most. Learn to be the observer of the thoughts and the emotions. In fact observe yourself observing them. Remember you are not the thoughts or the emotions. You are far more than that. You are the observer. In time that detachment will make you smile as you look at the situation without identification with it. In the meantime know that we are with you and rooting for you.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0

I didn't manage any meditation yesterday but will have a go today. Am gradually practicing mindfulness at certain times. I am feeling in a positive mood, generally my anxiety occurs at night. think thats probably down to no one else being awake as a distraction etc. I am left to lie with my thoughts!
Anyway have a stress free day everyoneI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
