I set this up with/for my 16 year old son after seeing the newsletter. He already had a Lloyds TSB current account so we opened a savings account online. That afternoon he went to Tesco's with me and went through the till 12 times, each time with goods valued just over £1. He had no problems at all but unfortunately we have now found out (having gone into his current account this morning) that the STC had not been set up on his account and so it was a complete waste of time and effort! I went on to register him again just in case and checked an hour later, and STC is now down on his list of transfers and payments. So I would advise everyone to make sure that STC is in the transfers and payments before making any purchases and if it is not, try registering again as I am sure the problem was with the registering in the first place. If it does take a few days for the registration to go through I can't believe that it would go through on a day when the bank is not open. My son is out shopping this afternoon so I have asked him to try and do at least one transaction on his card today to test the system. Wasn't even sure it would work for someone who was not an adult, so get your kids doing it too!0

Know the feeling. Did 10 transactions yesterday on my 2nd current account, as well as putting 3 transactions on my 1st account to reach the £50 marker. However, the 3 appeared, as the STC was already set up, but the others on the newer one did not appear in the Transfer section with the STC description. Rang them up to find out why, oh the first person had not set it up properly. Now I'm assured it is done properly as I went through to a Supervisor to complain. But was told to wait until Tuesday to be on the safe side before I made any transactions.
First time round I was told it had been done properly, even though the girl's opening remark to me was that she had not come across this scheme!!!!!
Anyway I will wait until Tuesday before I try any more and then squeeze them in before the end of the month.0 -

I presume he has the Under 19's Current Account?
Was told by the idiots in my local branch that this did not qualify for Save The Change, though they also told me the account came with Visa Electron and I couldn't get a cheque book....0 -
I went to my bank today Lloyds and they set it up for me straight away.
Got home and checked in my Transfers and payments section and it is there.
However I used to 15 times from my Egg savings account etc but card has now been blocked. Does anyone know whether it will get unblocked after 24 hrs or do I need to phone a dept of my bank.0 -

If you are using the self scan tills, and you use your debit card more than 3 times in a row (i.e. go shopping, buy something, pay, go shopping again, buy something, pay etc) it will be blocked and it won't let you through, even if you enter the right PIN etc (it fails after the PIN entry screen).
You'll have to sign for your goods at the desk at the end as I did earlier today, as for whatever reason the system doesn't like repeated card transactions. If you go to a checkout then your PIN card works with no problem.
It's not the first time it happened at the same branch with the self scan tills. First time it happened, I thought it was simply Tesco being iffy or my card being blocked, since I had made a number of transactions in a row and the computer might have detected something odd, but I went into M&S a few yards away and my card worked fine. So I guess it's a Tesco thing.
A tip from me: if you're in Tesco and need something to knock the total over to the next pound, then I can recommend the 8p Value noodles. If you're in Sainsbury's then it's the 10p bags of Haribo. Those are the cheapest things I can find in the shop ... can anyone else find anything cheaper?!?!0 -

I have been using my Egg savings account. That way I am not spending anything.0
