Anyone ever opened up a teabag ? It looks like tea dust frankly. I suspect that we are being ripped off, paying for good quality and not getting it, compared to loose tea :(

Thats exactly what it is ! I've visited a few Tea Factories in Sri Lanka and the sweepings off the floor are certainly not thrown away.

    Hi,

After reading this thread, my family and I decided to try sainsburys basic T bags this week and must say they are a perfectly good cup of tea, not at all bitter and so far each bag seems consistant in strength. at 27p for a box we will be buying more of these in future

i usually buy mine when iceland have them for 240 for £3.50 1.45p per t-bag.

Just as a heads up, two things..

    1) I've noticed recently the 240 PG tips packs have a coupon to cut out giving 50p off your next pack, these were from Iceland but I imagine all supermarkets stocking them will have the same packaging.

    2) If you like Yorkshire tea, that's sold for £2.25 for 160 at Iceland (80 + 80 free). It's been 80+80 for a few months now with no signs of the deal ending (touch wood).

I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but Poundstretcher have Typhoo teabags on offer at £9.99 for 1100. Have no idea if it is any good as it's not a brand I have knowingly had.

I use Sainsbury's basics at 27p now and really am happy with them - I used to be a Tetley drinker.

Anyway, hope it's of use to somebody:)

This is what we buy too - my hubby used to insist on posh teabags but he now prefers these! We love the taste and the price. :)

They had a larger box with some free too although they were a bit more expensive per bag (got the calculator out and got some strange looks!)

Oh don't worry about that, I frequently get out my mobile phone, switch it to 'calculator mode' and work out the price per unit for stuff - the one that gets me most often is the price per sheet for kitchen roll, cos some rolls have 50 sheets, some 75 and some 100, so working out per roll isn't accurate enough.

I do worry tho' I used to be able to do all that arithmetic in my head, but age seems to be making my brain foggy
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
