This is a first for me as I never really share my worries so please bear with me:o
I had a letter today from Welsh Water saying here is your bill and btw we notice your water consumption has significantly increased:eek:...kind of 3 or 4 times what I use, I am on a meter.
Checked the reading and not only was it right but it's also gone up by 10 units,I think it's 10 cubic metres of water in 1 week since it was read:eek:...there are not enough  for this.
The letter says we are sending an inspector round, job number but no time or date so I rang them up...after some faffing the girl seems really cheerful and kind and said it could be a fault with the meter but the inspector will tell you more. I am so worried that it won't be that simple because pretty much everything else involves me paying to fix it and I can't afford that:( I can't see any obvious leaks anywhere but the mud which is under the meter below the pavement is quite wet but I can't see anything leaking and that could be rain although it hasn't rained for 4 or 5 days.
I'm praying to God that the meter is at fault but I am really worried this will be my problem and not theirs, also how the hell will the bill be sorted out?
Have any of you had anything like this before? As I said I usually keep my worries to myself but we are a helpful bunch on here so I feel better already!:T Any advice appreciated....TIA!
Sorry for long post too!
First of all I would check your buildings insurance to see what you're covered for, some cover things like this, some don't but at least you'll have an idea. If you own your home also check the survey you would have had done when buying as this will tell you who is responsible for what.
If neither apply and you rent, your landlord will (should) be responsible, hthNo Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

Snap-ant - loving the difficult quiz. Mind you it took me ages to read the questions as I didn't have enough caffeine in me after a restless night with DS2. Any chance you could have 1 day a week at difficult from now on?
So pleased. Yes I'll leave the setting as every tuesday it's a difficult one

Thank you so much! I have no idea where the stopcock in the house is  but none of the taps drip and when I looked earlier and nothing was on in the house the little wheelie thing in the middle was still going round most definitely so I will check again in the morning and check it one hour apart like you said.
I assume there has to be a leak somewhere I just don't want to be responsible for the cost of it I suppose, Welsh Water did say exactly what you did about the bill now I remember, about taking readings afterwards to work out proper usage.
Sorry to post this here it's a T3$c0 board after all but I knew you would be the best people to advise me and there's always someone to talk to...I love it thank you everyone!
Just off to read back saw some more answers too...thank you so much:T:T:T everybody
I don't know about that any more....Nothing happening at T's for ages so it's a cookery, childhood memories, ailments board today.....tomorrow it could be something quite different, wouldn't be surprised if it was Boots board !My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -
hi everyone I hope you are all ok, just popped to Mr S got 4 salmon steaks for £1 80p should have been £8 also got two ready meals 74p each that should have been £2.79p also used vouchers on dettol spray and hand wash and innocent smoothies. if you have vouchers for smoothies they are currently £1 39p at Mr s. Also not sure if you are all aware that slug and lettuce have extended there %50 off there menu until 31st January you do need a voucher which I think can be printed off their website.
Happy shoppingMortgage debt 45,000. Thank you all for your help so far in helping me save to buy the house. I could not have done this without all your help.0 -
