  • Evening all, I'm looking for some help from the slow cooker gang. I did my meatballs and sauce in mine today, but after 4 hours it was starting to burn round the edges, surely that shouldn't happen? :o

This is the one we got http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4201276.htm and I had it on low, but it was still bubbling away, the lid was even rattling at one point! It was half full (or half empty depending on how you look at it! :p ) I've never used one before, but that wasn't really what I was expecting, is this normal or have we bought a dodgy one? Any help greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks Jumble jack
Yes they are indeed twinks hobnobs and here is the recipe - so simple and sooooo yummy

    Hobnob Recipe

    Ingredients

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda

    Instructions

Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.

Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

    Oh wow!

Are those twinks hobnobs (or something like that) from the OS thread?

I have that recipe scrawled down somewhere. It is an absolutely amazing recipe!!! I have made em a couple of times when I used to post there instead.

Could someone pop it on here for others to try?

What a blast from the past. That is something else on my to bake list now!!!!

Well done, they are sheer perfection!! :T

    :hello:Evening all :hello:

Been out since 10am. Vets with my doggies as they're both red and inflamed where they had their ops and the stitches seem to be quite embedded in the swelling, so we thought we'd check it out. He said that my Mum's been doing exactly the right thing, bathing it with steralised water and applying Savlon cream :) So all's well and he didn't charge us either which I thought was very kind of him :A

Then I went on a 50 mile round trip of 4 Asda's and 4 Boots. A's I had no luck at all, I couldn't find 1 xmas themed item!!:( Oh well some you win, some you lose and I have enough chocolate...probably....maybe.....no I don't have enough chocolate! :rotfl::rotfl:

Boots I had much better luck :D :T

    Anyone in Brist0l : -
Cr1bbs was sold out of both (wasn't me!! Empty when I arrived! :()
Eastg8 was sold out of both (I bought 6 of each)
Br0admead had plenty of Ricolas and shots (make sure you go upstairs, lots of Ricolas up there :D)
Bedm1nster I totally forgot about Ricolas :o:o:o:o Yes I'm a nightmare at times!! So they may or may not have them. Plenty of shots but no cheap vits.

A's I went to Cr1bbs, Eastg8 living store and Bedm1nster and as I said couldn't find xmas grub in any :(:(

    Hope that helps someone :A

Hope all's well, am off to catch up :)xx

I'm still not convinced that your FIL hasnt had a stroke of some kind. A stroke can have all sorts of effects, including what you have described above. Either way, he is in the right place, and i hope your OH can get some kip and that you are doing ok in all this too x

as for your food things- your poor mans doughnuts sound lush, but i'll reserve judgement on the other thing :rotfl::rotfl:

Hopefully they will check him out, its also possible he has an underlying infection. Ive seen many quite confused elderly people who have improved really quickly once its been identified they have an infection (usually UTI) and start antibiotics. Keeping my fingers crossed he gets sorted out.:)
