I don't really want to wade into the discussion, but that is pretty harsh. Yes, this is a Tesco thread, but let's be honest, there's a lot of other chat that goes on that's not Tesco related, don't see anyone looking for a new thread to start everytime it goes slightly off topic.
I hope that Happy is still lurking and he can see that he obviously means a lot to many people on here and I do hope that something can be sorted in the future.

A place where tired or ill people found some solace and comfort from the friendship of other people on the thread.
It was said earlier that this is the longest HC has ever lasted on a forum, that puts into perspective his difficulties but also speaks volumes about the little community that was built on this thread.0 -

There seems to be a pretty even split between children that hate glasses full stop and children that come in and try every pair on in the shop!! There is a fantastic range of spex available for kids nowadays, I'm sure you'd be able to find a pair that he thinks are cool. Boots currently have Ben 10 and Star wars (I don't know what he's into) but other Opticians will have ranges that are exclusive to them also. We had children that were inconsolable when they were told they needed glasses but once they saw the range and actually got the glasses and started using them, it soon becomes normality and even something to look forward to when they get to choose a new pair. The most important thing is to be encouraging (I'm sure you're doing this already) and hopefully the staff at your opticians will be encouraging also. Regarding the drops, that was probably recommended to dilate the pupils in order to gain a full view of the retina. Did he still have the visual accuity portion of the test? They would be able to do this and diagnose whether he requires spex without the dilation. Hope this helps
getting him to wear the glasses isnt a problem he's always running a round with my sunglasses on, he just wont have the test done as they tried to force him to have the drops now when i go anywhere near an opticians he knows whats coming and refuses point blank, they didnt give him any test just said he needed the drops, i dont he has a visual problem as such just a squint iykwim he would probably just end up having to wear a patch for a while to correct it but as i said he just wont go so we dont really knowbest win in 2011:eek: 4 nights in Las Vegas

You also knew members of his family posted here but didn't take the time to speak to them either.
Interesting too that you chose to cicumvent the spell checker and use the F word on here.
Martins site really has let itself down with this I'm afraid. He is supposed to be a person who champions the causes of those who often can't fight for themselves for whatever reason yet on this occasion HC has been treated with no consideration at all.
This whole business leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth I'm afraid.
but due to his condition i feel it is not too late to make amends once he understands that even at hinting at swear words is not allowed.
in the past if hc even thought he upset someone on here he was quick to say something like - i did not mean to upset you.0 -
....The job of anyone in authority is a hard one and I guess what I'm trying to say is that the mods & board guides all have a job to do. Whether we like their decisions is another matter but this forum isn't about just one thread or one user. Yes HC has a condition which has exacerbated this issue but a line has to be drawn somewhere.
I hope do HC will reconsider and the mods will cut a little bit of slack. All that's needed is an apology. It's not face to face, no-one really knows who you are HC (except a few of us), so for the sake of a few days embarrassment at 'backing down' please think long & hard about your final decision.
HC perhaps did not fully know where to draw the line but I did notice he moderated things at the time sirbrainy was banned. So, does this not suggest he knew where that line was and what the consequences could be? That may seem hard but I would prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt as he brought a lot of colour to the thread(for me anyway).
What many may not have considered is that many on here have interacted with HC in such a way that he may have been encouraged to use some colourful language and views, to fit in, but without him fully knowing where to stop. As I'm no expert on Aspergers I may be talking complete rubbish. No offence intended to anyone on here but perhaps there is some learning here for us all to take forward when you are dealing with people you don't really know or fully understand?:)Awaiting a new sig0 -

i know you werent his biggest fan, but i also know you've been on this thread long enough to know that its not all about Ts....you know that the people that moan about the chat and off topic discussions on this thread only get told to go and read the 'other' Ts thread on the main board!
what makes this thread so great and longstanding is that it consists of virtual friendships....people who help each other in all walks of life....not just with the latest Ts bargain.
If you dont get that after all the time being on here, then leave...or just ignore the posts.
You previously complained about HCs posts, now hes gone, and you're complaining about posts that are about HC!!! Just ignore the posts if him, the topic, the content etc bothers you so much.
You're probably also aware that the bargains seem thinner on the ground than usual at the moment...thats why people arent posting...so rather than the thread sitting dormant for days...we chit-chat
dont like it...dont read it ...simpleshoping for a very MSE Ts glitching 2012!0 -
I just wanted to state that I do not swear in front of my children at all. I told my daughter that he had been banned for bypassing the filter (not the words) and she replied with you should hear what language is used in the playground.
She doesn't read the thread but does ask for updates and was genuinely upset as she enjoyed the antics ie the clipstrips etc as we all did.0 -

I am an old fashion girl at heart and can`t help thinking that any emails sent to this forum by any user should be kept confidential. If I had a problem on here I feel that the way this issue has been dealt with would put me of off contacting the MSE forum for help or advise.
Sincerely
Leenie
I'm going to have to say that I totally agree with you Leenie, I actually could not believe the fact that his email had been published. That has left a really bad taste in my mouth. He has Asbergers for goodness sake, and publishing that has probably made him feel 10 times worse:mad::mad: He's really upset over the whole thing and Yes everyone, He did lash out last night and in hindsight knows it wasnt the right thing to do. I'm laying off posting for a while because I really feel for him, this thread has done him the world of good. And I really don't care if anyone gets the hump about me waffling about wanting him back, and my post will probably get deleted, but Asbergers is not an excuse it's made him who he is, it's made him what he is and it's made him why he is, The funny Happy Chappy that we're missing;)Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -
