Tesco 340g smooth peanut butter gone up from £1.01p to £1.38 in a week.
Trattoria thin crust pepperoni frozen pizza up from £1.00 to £1.49
After reading this just checked the price of value peanut butter which I usually buy, was 52p, now 92p! So wish I had bought a load of them!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Some of the increases are extremely annoying as they are items that have been low for many many months that we always put in basket and its very easy to miss an increase when they have always been chealp.
Biggest increases on out usual stuff were Coffee Whitener up from 96p per 500gramme to a crazy rather silly £2.34 per 500gramme which actually places it above premium products including genuine coffee mate.I went ti add the usual 4 or 6 as use this at work too so luckily something clicked but that is a huge huge incxrease its been under a quyd for many many months so could have been easily caught out :mad:
Im sure Value peanut butter is up from 52p to 90p
Jars of value beetroot nearly doubled
saw lots browsing through the value items increases or disapeared all together Lots more Im sure but dont know how many as we have just emptied basket after seeing a fair few increases the over 100% one was last straw and not taking risk of things increasing by that much on delivery day , one can understand on increasing items sometimes before a special price but these are value items .
What happens if we put value products in out basket and check out then they increase to over double thge price as in the witener , they must think we are all daft whoever would pay more than premium products for value items its silly and actually likely to lose a complete family of Tesco shoppers here.0 -
Problem we face is some of rises rather senseless.
its hard to know what to bulk buy and stock up on as we dont know what they will up next.
My advice to people buying value lines as up until recently we opted for value is to stop
look at own brand and brand names
compare weights/size
see if anythings on offer
As dont feel value is always the best anymore so take the time and work it out.
Example not tesco but they must do comparitive products.
2sainsburys basic salmon fillets. £3+
brought whole salmon in morrisions fresh fish area £11 and cut into 12 generous sizes fillets much bigger and better quality than the value.
Im waiting for wipes to drop and bulk buy as tesco have baby event next week.
might bulk buy pullups but only if cheaper than lids cheapest by far at £3.20 tesco and sainsbuirys have value pullups 2.99 last time checked but they were truly rubbish pay extra 19p and buy lidls!
beetroot-we grew that one year dead easy , could even be grown in pots so beetroot lovers maybe grow your own and get pickling would last ages!pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
Pay off as much as I can 2011 £15008.02/£15,000:j
new grocery challenge £200/£250 feb

Tesco are by far the worst offenders though by a long mile only time I use them is to stock up on anything on offer I want and veggie stuff as mine has a bigger choice
I rarely use them now. I shop at Sainsburys and AldiYou live..You learn.:)0 -
Tesco Value tuna chunks in brine were 66p, now 75p!0

I couldn't believe how much the eggs were in Tesco the other day, not only that but a pack of Lurpack butter was going on for £4!! Our weekly shopping bill is way too big, but short of eating rations Im not sure how to cut the price!Chaos is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence. -Buddha0

Tesco value peanut butter was 52p (and recently buy 2 get 3rd free) up to 69p.0

Tescos canned chickpeas , last time I bought them they were 48p , saw them yesterday at 72p . Its surely hard to justify such a price increase as that .
Im not going to be loyal to any retailer .... I will go where its best value .0 -

Completely agree. Cannot afford to be loyal to a supermarket nowadays.
On topic I always buy Sainsburys basics curry sauce. Was 9p, then 19p, then 25p and have just checked the website and it's now 17p. Food shopping is such a minefield when they are forever changing prices.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0
