They can only go so far with that. Many people just dont have the money to pay extra so you cut back, go for unbranded stuff etc
No wonder many businesses are going under by time we paid for our food, rent or mortgage, fuel, heating etc there is very little left for luxuries like holidays or treats
I accept commodities have gone up in recent times but it doesn't make it right nor much we can do about it other than economise but you can only economise so far0 -
What intrigues me is
I only notice rises in things I buy mostly value or own brand.
Wonder if their premuim rises are staying same too? ie tesco finest?
what would be interesting is site like my supermarket that does not tell you what current price is but may tracks the price of item over 6months or a year so customers can see.
I feel annoyed that if customer has downshifted to their value range and they steep increases of over 50%on value lines like wipes 17p last jan!46p now..does feel like we getting rough deal.
some areas theres little choice of shopping around.for elderly people or when you have young kids finding time to go round everywhere getting best price can be hard.
I do hate tesco the most but think the others can be just as bad.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
Pay off as much as I can 2011 £15008.02/£15,000:j
new grocery challenge £200/£250 feb
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON:D,Onwards and upward2013:)0 -
One tactic I like is to try and use pound shops and Mr A where possible for things that can be stored; eg. Ryvitas were 59p for a box or two for 99p in a 99p shop, and one box is 90p in Mr T! I hate how Mr T's fruit & veg is a rip-off, market all the way (at the end of trading day).0

If you have time shop at some of the value shops you really can get some good bargains there. Like Heron for frozen food and other food, Home bargains, Poundland etc I dont go in them often but when I do I stock up mainly none food items0

Chinese Leaf £1.17 to £1.25 (according to my mum).
I only buy things on offer at Tesco nowadays.0
