Tesco price increases

Hi All
I dont know if maybe im imagining this to be worse than it is but in my tescos since christmas everything seems to have shot up in price.
So long as people keep shopping at Tesco why would they want to lower their prices.
If enough people shopped elsewhere they'd soon get the message.
Okay, not everyone can do that because Tesco are trying to take over the world and there's no other store for them, but I'm sure if many people took off the blinkers and looked around they'd get a pleasant surprise.
I shopped in Sainsbury's last weekend because mysupermarket reckoned that was the cheapest of my locals. It turned out that because of the way they do their price comparison my overall shop was cheaper there, but the comparable items would have been cheaper elsewhere so I got a money off coupon too.0 -
I feel a big campaign coming up advertising how much prices have gone down and lots of savings..... back to what they were before...
They say that they have big price rises just before they do these campaigns so that people think they are saving but they are only being charged the original price.... End of Jan is when xmas credit cards bills come in and more people will need to save money, they would see all these ads and fall for it...
Will follow with interest to see if this is what's gonna happen..0 -
Chocolate eclairs were 20pence now 39pence.0

got to remember price drop-mostly spin.
not all items pricematched.
having worked in retail know how it works
they put price up-called period of price establishment as it has to be higher price for min of 24hours before can then legally drop and go in sale!
so many items on bogoff double in price when on offer.
then it comes off bogoff and goes half price!
Always suspected everyday basic good not on offer go up a few pence to fund all the offers.
Another thing is price stuctures vary according to region you live.
Also all the diffrent formats mean they can get away with things so same item wil always be more expensive in tesco express, metro more than superstore as classed as convieniance retailing.
When I worked for somerfeild there were 3along 1 long road and they all had different prices used to drive customers mad!
I need to get to poundshops more.
we dont have a b&m or homebargains
pounstretchers not that good
wilkos does food but dont think its overly cheap.
Theres a new poundshop on retail park but need to drive there.
also family bargains and poundland in city centre great but rarly go and tend to take bus in.
noticed new cash and carry opened near me says no need to be member may investigate.
I love lidls but even some of there prices gone up and they have random price drops.
Love farmfoods much cheaper and better value than iceland which for no foods is actually quite pricey!pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Activia Yogurts 2 x 4 packs for £3.50! These used to hover around between £2.50 and £3 for 2 packs. The 8 packs in Sainsbury's were 2 for £6 when they used to be 2 for £4 or £5. I can also remember value fromage frais being 15p a pack for quite a while.
I do virtually all my shopping at Aldi and Lidl now and very pleased with the quality and cost, it's also quicker as there anot mind boggling amount of varieties of items to choose from,lol!0 -

As another thought we should all do our best to document these increases in price in our stores (which ever store) and then on the same items to post here if they are "reduced" or put on special offer to put them back down to the previous price.0

It's not just Tesco, I've noticed it in Asda as well (own brand sausages have gone up 40p!) - unfortunately it's all very well saying shop elsewhere but we have two large Asdas and a small Aldi and a small M&S. We can't really go anywhere else since we don't drive, I imagine others have the same problem. I do plan into popping into Aldi more though.
