Tesco price increases

I have also noticed large price increases in Tesco - especially on the lower priced items. Some of them have gone up by 50%.0

What about the Greek yogurt and feta? The yogurt is now £1 while the feta is £ 1.48 (crappy Tesco variety, they no longer sell apetina which used to be
£ 1,10). Oh, and the chopped tomatoes (value range) used to be around £ 0.33, now: £ 0.42I don't understand how a supermarket with 30% market share can't offer cheaper prices while Lidl and Aldi can!!!!

I know- I used to buy them when they were 25p back in the day....(roughly 10 years ago) has inflation now doubled the actual cost of items over 10 years? Because as far as I can remember, things like bottles od soft drinks have not gone up by double, neither have fruit or veg.0 -
Pricing seems to be all over the place, here's an example:
Kenko Rappor 100g:
previous prices £2.18
price today £2.49
price from tomorrow: [STRIKE]£2.18 [/STRIKE]£1.50
So price increased, then on special offer.
Kenco Rappor Coffee 100G£2.49 (£2.49/100g)SAVE 68p Was £2.18 Now £1.50 valid from tomorrow (24/1/2012) until 14/2/2012

I very much doubt they think "posh" people don't buy value items. I think it's more to do with competition, if they don't have competition such as aldi, lidl etc. then there is no need to sell value items to complete with those stores. They are just using the "posh" bit so people will think that if their local store stops selling value items it is because they are in a "posh" area.0 -

Although Tesco have increased the price of their value tissues from 45p to 69p box (Same as Asda's price) the big difference is that Tesco's version only contains 150 tissues compared to Asda's 225.0 -
Hi All
I dont know if maybe im imagining this to be worse than it is but in my tescos since christmas everything seems to have shot up in price. Most things i buy are value or mid range tesco own brand or the discount brandS (where they are actually cheaper) alot of things have gone up 15p - 30p a not insignificant rise in my shopping bill. has anyone esle had this in thier stores ? any examples welcome lets name and shame.
Eggs (box of 18) were £1.25 now £1.45 20p UP
Daisy 30 wash box was £3.00 is now £3.29 29p UP
tescos cola was 48p is now 60p 12p UP
in store bread was 1.05 is now 1.20 15p UP
tomato soup was 17p is now 24p 7p UP
(value brand)
Im sure there are more but these are the ones i remember off the top of my head. It annoys me that they must think we dont notice these things
whilst they proudly display a banner outside proclaiming the new year price drop !!!
And dont even get me started on the stuff thats the same price but smaller packets !!
That is why I am loosing my loyalty to them now. I realised the same and if they think their customers are stupid....thank you I rather go to Lidl which is straightforward, upfront and always to the point. Also prices in Lidl in many cases are better than Tesco, which is amazing how relatively small chain (in comparison to Tesco) can compete on prices. Obviously that shows how much money Tesco is doing on everything.0 -
