My dad does this, not only with his four children and his grandchildren (which is forgivable) but also with his wives/ex -wives (currently on number three!) which is perhaps not!0

That's nothing, my admittedly mentally ill mother forgot my birthday. When she was in hospital after the birth of my little brother, she commissioned these plates for her kids. Mary Mary Quite Contrary for the girl and Little Boy Blue for the boys.
She got my birthday wrong by one day and it's sat there for the better part of 32 years - she even referred to the plates to remember our birthdays and couldn't quite grasp why I was always so cool to her after she wished me Happy Birthday a day late.
She died at 58 in 2002. As soon as my Dad's gone that bl00dy plate is getting broken and put in the rubbish.
Dad, however, would routinely get our names wrong but prided himself on at least getting my birthday right. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
This mam and grandma does it ! I know who they are , of course, but sometimes go through the 3 grandsons names before the right name gets out of my mouth . My mam used to do it but I never thought I would . Never mind , as other posters say , it's just one of those things .0

It gets to be a problem when you call the dog by the kids name and it answers to it

Mine does it all the time as does my grandmother and annoyingly they both call me the name of a horrible family member who I actually have a phobia of turning out like. They have called me by all the pets names in the past too, and often the cat would be referred to by my name

My grandma used to run through everyone's name before finding the right one. I don't know if my mum is going the same way but she calls me by my youngest daughters name all the time, although she denies it!0

My mum and gran do it and I even answer to other members of the families names as I'm so used to it. I was walking down the street and someone shouted my dads name and I looked round just in case :rotfl::j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0
