  • Buglawton, can you remember cost/length of time the job took to move boiler?

I am thinking now that I will put it in the kitchen and move it when necessary as long as it wont cost too much.

It was 10 years ago, about £400 (Thames Valley price) included making a new hole in the wall. Gas plumbers are pretty reluctant to jobs like this though.
  • Thanks for info.

I assume they are reluctant because it is a small job? I guess if we are moving the kitchen and doing extension at the same time then it will be easier to get someone out.

They are reluctant because its a new install as far as certification is concerned and has to be treated as such (and thus charged as such) by the installer. People beef about having to pay for the same job twice expecting the move to be done on the cheap. Thery are also reluctant because its a waste of your money to shift it without that good a reason - given that OP will have a good reason though.

    Cheers

Almost identical job, same model of boiler, except that the OP's is in the loft not the kitchen,
So not for a similar job at all then. :D
........which will add a bit to the price.....
which [STRIKE]will[/STRIKE] may add a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot to the price. Corrected it for you.
I think a third quote will tell the OP which the price is in his area.
You are absolutely correct. The very fact that he has already had two prices oin the same ballpark sort of suggests that such is the going rate for his particular jobspec.
It is possible his area is more expensive
Indeed. It's also probable that his job has more work IMO.

    Cheers

I think nearly 4 grand for a boiler install is OTT aswell mate. When you think the boiler your after is around 900, a Fernox TF1 filter Installer's Pack is around 110, copper pipeing and connections around 200 max, wireless stat 100 max and a power flush should be about 300.
    So that's a total of 1610!
LoL youse one helluva a funny guy redboy. Who writes your lines for you? You've already stated quite unequivocally on another thread that you are NOT a plumber. You haven't seen this job, you have zero idea what it entails, googling a few prices doesn't make you an expert on kit costs either.
Even If other bits & bobs took it up to 2 grand that's still 1700 in the pocket for a couple of days work
    Not bad ah !
Id10t error. Do you really think he is trousering that much? Have you never run your own business?

On second thoughts you are right - ALL plumbers rip people off. There are no exceptions ALL plumbers hang around just waiting to empty peoples bank accounts.

Most plumbers after they have charged you the equivalent of your mortgage for a job that a monkey could probably do (lets face it plumbing is the easiest job in the world, for gods sake kids can do it) usually then grab you by your ankles, turn you upside down and give you a good shake to ensure that they have all your loose change too.

Honestly ALL tradesmen are low life scum and the plumber is the daddy of them all. Be careful they don't nick your telly whilst you are not looking - the scum.

    Sheesh

In Summer 2010 I paid £2000 for a CDi 30 to be installed up in the loft, South Manchester. Pipework was extended from the bathroom, up in to the loft and over - about 11 or 12 metres worth. Came with a five year manufacturer's warranty.

    In 2006 I paid £32.28 for 30 metres of 15mm copper tube!

Good evening: experienced RGIs who have actually seen the job, conducted a site survey, and discussed the OP's requirements would be best placed to advise on costs and specification. OP gets 3 quotes, compares like for like and decides which way to go...simples.

Speculation on whether a quote is 'fair' by keyboard 'experts' (especially those living in a different part of the UK) is not instructive.
