To be honest from the people who have replied it has confirmed my thoughts that the job might be a bit overpriced.

Yes i think you are missing something. There is only one person saying a higher price of 4K. Rosekitten was quoting my post and if you read what she has said she is saying the price is too much.
Dont worry, we all have bad days0 -
Oh and forgot to say the 4k quote included refitting a bathroom - so not a similar quote0

Dont worry, we all have bad days. With nearly 2k posts under her, presumably, delightful belt perhaps its time to learn to use the quote function then. Yes misread that one entirely - sorry. Oh and if indies are quoting 3.7 you can bet your bottom dollar that BG will start at around 5.
Don't even go there.

Why does it have to go in the loft? If there was room for a conventional floor standing boiler, then surely there is room for a wall hung combi?
It must add to the install costs, (extending feed and supply/return pipe runs, gas supply, long condensate drain, power supply etc) and will be relatively inaccessible for service or repair.
I can see no point in putting a boiler in a loft unless there is absolutely no alternative. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
No worries, thanks for taking time to reply.
I wont touch BG with bargepole. Would rather go with an indie anyway - in general I find they are more accountable and proud of the job than a massive company.
Thanks for everyones help.0 -
Good question macman.
We are extending the kitchen in a year or so and if we kept it in the kitchen it would mean moving the boiler then. When I spoke to plumbers about it they said better to move it to loft now so it does not need moving in a year.0 -
Does this include bringing your loft up to regs for access etc?0

No, we have been told we need to do boarding to boiler site and a rail i think he said.0

The only other one on this thread is at 2,700 and thats not for a similar job.
Almost identical job, same model of boiler, except that the OP's is in the loft not the kitchen, which will add a bit to the price. I had three quotes, two were similar, one was much higher, by about £1K. I think a third quote will tell the OP which the price is in his area. It is possible his area is more expensive.
OP: Also note that there are certified WB installers, which might mean something.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
