My cat's been hurt

Working at home today because of the snow. Moxie my cat came in limping really badly and collapsed on the kitchen floor. Really scary. Took him to the vet straight away. Vet thinks he's been hit by a car. They've kept him there to do x rays etc. Estimated cost is £200! He is insured but I have to pay a £55 excess and it will take 10 weeks to process ! (Direct Line). I have to ring the vet at 4 to find out whether he can come home or whether they will keep him in overnight (more cost!). But in these situations there's no choice, you just have to pay up.

It was a shock, just lucky that I was at home today (thanks snow!) cos otherwise I'd have been at work and then was going to the theatre, so wouldn't have been home till late. I dread to think what state he's have been in.

Poor you. I worry about my cat whenever he's outside but he loves it so much I just have to put up with it! Sounds like he might not be too bad if the vet thinks he might be able to come home today. Hope you and he feel better. :hugs:

Oh, its awful isn't it when a pet gets hurt - we have 3 cats and I am forever worrying about them being out.

Sending you my best wishes and hope Moxie makes a full and speedy recovery.

I know I worry every time he goes out because we live on a main road, although there is a big shared garden at the back, I've often seen him at the front of the house and had to bring him inside. And my neighbour's cat was killed on that road just a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunatley, there's nothing we can do though - as cats tend to roam and don't take any notice of us humans. I sometimes think they are fearless. The front of our house is on a main road and luckily or unluckily only 1 of ours goes out the front - though I don't know how he gets round  as we only let me out of the back patio doors. Pets, eh? They don't know how they can break our hearts. It sounds like Moxie wont be too bad though if they think he may be able to come home tonight, heres hoping xxx
