Just to be fair and re-reading the OP it says NRP is paying £100pm total.

I still say NRP is in entitled to half the benefits, but inm this case that half should go towards making up the shortfall in his maintance payments.

The DLA is for the child's care/mobility needs, so neither parent is entitled to it or half of it, it belongs to the child.

Perfectly put. We get DLA for our Son, and it stands to reason it goes to benefit his aid, whatever the circumstances.

    Ridiculous statement.
Are you suggesting the payment should be made directly to the child?

The payment is to assist the child regardless of who it is paid to.
If the NRP has care of the child then surely some of of those funds should be used for that period of time.

That may be your opinion, but it is not what the law says.

Agreed. I thought it was clear from the earlier posts benefit payments cannot presently be shared.
  • An award for DLA is made to the claimant, so, in this case i would imagine that the award is made to the child but more than likely paid into a bank account held by the parent.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Irrespective of the pro's or cons, if he had the pleasure, he should pay for it until the children have grown! The state has no business keeping people's children. The parents should and must pay.

Now I will sound thick NRP & PWS?

I agree, but so far we have only been talking about HIM paying and her having extra, not both parents paying.

NRP - Non-resident parent (more often than not, dad)

PWC - parent with care (more often than not, mum)

Wow an NRP trying to play dirty like a lot of PWCs!

yeah, its such a shame that people unable to work out the finances of bringing up a child are allowed to create them

it gives those of us that are able to without quibble a bad name
