The Sun hasn't burnt up and blown as all to smithereens* yet - doesn't mean it can't/won't - kinda wishing it would right about now haha!

*(wow, think that's the first time I've ever used that word in its written form!)

There really is no point anymore. Dfh will continue to repeat the same thing over and over again despite clear and patient explanations given as to why he is wrong. It's like talking to a turnip.
And why have you such a low opinion of turnips?

It that were the case, then a pub would charge 1000000000 for a pint of lager.

No one could charge such ridiculous prices.

Which goes to show that no matter what people say, companies simply cannot charge whatever they want for their products.

You do understand the difference between "cannot charge" and "would not be so stupid as to charge" £1M, don't you?

We would also have a mcdonalds charging 10000000 for a burger , kfc charging 1000000 for a bucket , a can of coke selling for 100000000.

So companies cannot charge whatever they want.
Please answer my earlier question. What pricing structure should i apply to my products?
    Is a 1000% margin acceptable?

If that were the case, printer manufacturers would charge £20,000 per litre for ink

    Oh, uh, wait...

Edinburgh Airport also has a drop off charge.
As do Luton - theres a short stay car park where you can park for 30 mins for free, which has a bus going from the car park to the terminal and vice versa.

Or you can park next to the terminal in the dropoff zone for up to 15 minutes, and pay £1 for the priveledge...

Bournmouth Airport used to be free for the first 15 minutes, but since the new arrivals building opened they got rid of that.

The plane operators demanded that they pay less money for use of the airport which the airport accepted, so they loss income from the plane companies and have to cover costs somehow and charging for dropping off/picking up is easy money.

Any chance that this post can get back on topic?

Many airports now are charging for dropping off passengers. You can blame the terrorist outrages a few years back, for that. Airport operators have had to make areas close by, BUT not too close by to the terminal . Guess what? that costs money.

Also factor into the equation the cost of running an airport. With most flights now of the low cost style, margins for landing fees, catering etc has been stripped down to the bone, by the likes of easyjet, ryanair saying they will not use the airports if they dont lower charges.

    http://www.blackpoolinternational.com/assets/pdfs/fees-charges.pdf

For an example look at link above. It is for Blackpool airport. Jet2.com fly from there, they won't pay these charges, but even if they did, the airport is still not getting a vast amount of money from a flight. Also with the low cost flights, you can take out of the equation, catering, baggage handling, ground services, as the airlines have their own staff.

The airport also has to pay the staff, checkin, cleaners, security, police presence, ground staff, ATC, fire dept, maintenence etc. The shops and bars don't give them a lot of money, they are franchises. They will get a small %

Their website, clearly states that there is a cost for dropping off a passenger . They also clearly state you can drop off FOC at Long term park, which is 5 min walk to terminal. Charging for drop off will not bring a huge amount of money in, most people get a taxi or drive there themselves, If you haven't flown from LBA, it is a nightmare anyway, it is in the back of beyond and not even close to Bradford really. Also the charges are shown on the road leading to the airport.

It is private property, and as such they can levy a charge for using their facilities. It is not excessive and you have alternative choices of dropping off if you wish too.

With regards to charging £1m for a tin of beans, anyone can charge what they want for anything legally. If there is a demand for it. The reason why beans cost 75p is due to the market aspirations for said article, they are in a marketplace where there are competitors, so they charge in accordance to what others are doing. Why were there people willing to pay £100 for hestons Buche ( sounds rude !) at Xmas. That is not illegal, if there is a demand for something, prices usually rise. It is what people are willing to pay.

Some posters on here are perdantic ar**holes, who just wish to cause mischief, but give no usefull viewpoints.

Lets get back on track gents please !;)

    dfh,

    Please read.
Tommorrow I could go into work and change the price of Heinz bean to £1million (know sure if the system will let me put 6 zero`s) ,apply the change, put out the price ticket.
I would most likely get the p*ss taken, but I could advertise and try to sell at that price ( I know it will not) but I can do it.
The only thing that stops it happening is people will pay what the market dictates.

Do you agree, yes or no ?
