45 minutes by bus isn't very far then. since travel times by bus are much longer due to stopping every five minutes at bus stops, and going via c,d,e and f in order to get from a to b. why didn't you walk?

Being honest Im not sure how long it would have taken on foot or what time I would have to have left home at . I started my bus journey at 7:00am . I have no idea what time I should have started on foot and did not think about walking the distance at the time .

In the past I worked for a number of Training Providers (including one that was associated with Working Links under an earlier name).

Perhaps it would help some of the people here who are incapable of understanding the OP's problem if they knew something of how these places work?

When I worked there, it was common practice to insist on clients coming in every day to claim for travel expenses. Weekly tickets/passes were rarely given out. The main reason for this was cash. There was always enough money to pay the staff wages (many of us were on little more than minimum wage) but rarely enough for client's expenses. Also, the companies liked to have as many clients in each day as possible. It looked good on their books to say they had seen a large number of clients ion centre. And all they care about is keeping numbers up so they get funding.

Expenses were not given out during the whole of the day - there was just one hour when the finance window was open. If you didn't turn up during that hour, you didn't get paid. No negotiating a more accessible time to collect money was possible.

Not everyone has possessions to sell on e-bay. Not everyone wants to borrow money at interest to cover travel expenses. And why should they? This is money they are entitled to.

It is easy to sit back and say 'oh if you want the job you would find the money to get there' but practically this isn't always possible.

Wow, that's appalling. Having read how little people get in cash on JSA (unless they can claim lots of extra benefits for children), I'm not surprised the OP didn't have any spare cash for fares.

The OP should go and see his MP and tell him what has been happening. There must (I hope) be clauses in their government contract, to fine these firms or cancel their contract. Perhaps with an MP on their back, these firms may exercise some common sense and issue travel passes.

Try this link to find your MP and then either write to them or find out when their surgery is and attend that. http://www.theyworkforyou.com/
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.

The claim would end the day before you start work, so that payment may not be substantial.

Substantial or not ,it would have been 5 days money . And due to WL shutting my claim down on my first day of training ,then me contesting this ,put that payment on hold ,then I was told I did not qualify for it .

The fact that you didn't even think of walking, much less try the journey a couple of times is absolutely staggering!

And the fact that you and your like choose to judge the OP, as well as many other posters that need help, as you always do, is quite disgusting!

I may not post a lot but I do read a lot and your comments frequently disgust me.

OP, I haven't posted on this thread until now as I know nothing useful about your situation but I do wish you the best of luck and DO understand where you are coming from. I hope everything is resolved for you quickly and please take no notice of the posters that do judge you. There ARE posters who will willingly help you even though it may not seem so.
