As another poster said, there is more detail elsewhere, but generally these policies aren't worth it. So consider look at asking for it to be cancelled.enaid wrote:Hello Barclay Bird my question is about P.P.I my sisters husband was self employed at the time he took out his loan and ppi he has read the terms and conditions but is not specific about being self employed. My question is if the policy is therefore not valid can he cancel it and reclaim his payments

Barclay Bird,
Earlier, you made reference to the fact that Barclays likes to cherry pick. I would therefore like to know if you have any knowledge of the scoring behind opening of current accounts and other credit facilies (such as cheque cards), overdrafts etc.
Not so much interested in credit file details (since that seems to be quite well-known)... more interested in how details on actual application forms weigh in... salary, job/occupation, accounts elsewhere etc
Although any details you can offer will satisfy my curiosity

It is worth saying that people should consider their needs first before cancelling, or look for comparisons as we have seen plenty of posts where people did not pay insurance and it would have helped them.
It depends on peoples individual needs0 -

You are correct. Do shop around, you don't have to take a policy with the bank giving you a loan

You can get different sorts of insurance cover that would be more cost effective and yet does the same thing essentially so it would pay to shop around. Bank PPI is incredibly expensive for what it is.0 -
Which is what I was saying Jarlawuk - before making a rash decision to either not take or cancel - have a look around0

Has anyone been prosecuted?
They aren't going to tell you anything. It wont have been forgotten. Ultimately they will have some evidence, which if they get the opportunity, will be put together with other evidence and a prosecution will take place.
I'm very sorry about your mother and very sorry her confidence has been dented.
She is much safer with her card than with cash, as this has proved.
Please wish her my best.

Do not know if anyone has been prosecuted. o know the name of the store where 4 purchases have been made with 1 week between each 2. The store is at least 30 miles away from us. How can anyone use your card without your 3 numbers on the back? If internet wouldn't it say so? The repayment had the same store named as repaying the amounts. Thanks for your help and information given. Mush appreciated.0
