hi barclay bird and welcome xx
can you give me abit of advice please, i currently have a barclaloan and wish to pay a bit more a month off it, oviuosly its set to a number of payments ,
on other threads people have sadi you can pay it off quicker by paying money into the loan account from an external account, is this possible, and also, sometimes you can have your loan reviewed, is it ever possible to get the interest apr lowered at a review?
thanks in advancexx0 -

What is it they look for?
To be honest I don't think you would be of great interest, the system tends to be quite selective. Barclays were at the forefront of cherry picking. If you could get an account with Barclays, you could usualy get one easily enough elsewhere.
I'd say try elsewhere

Yes you can pay off extra, it isn't approved of, but the system doesn't stop you. But do not put it into credit! Will cause you a problem getting it back
They will not reduce interest, they would allow you to take out a new loan, possibly at a newer rate. If you get a pre-approved letter, they do tend to be genuine, but are for a limited period only

thanks for that, would they penalize me for paying more into the loan account, and also would it make the loan interest smaller, or just paid off quicker
would they take my overdraft off me to punish me lol0 -
egghead, should pay it off quicker with less interest. This is a loophole, that they don't like

No they wouldn't take you overdraft.
Fo you use your overdraft? Surely this is a higher rate than you load? So should be got rid of first

the apr on my loan is ......16.9!!!!! so the interest per month before any money is taken off is 140 approx, out of 300 i pay per month!!

I am not sure if Barclay Bird can answer that question as Barclaycard and Barclays are two seperate companies, all be it part of the same banking group.
From what the OP has said so far would indicate that she works for Barclays and not Barclaycard.
I used to work for Barclaycard btw.0 -

Sorry I don't know.
However if you had lost your card number for a closed account, I may be able to find it for you;)Barclay Bird, here for your questions to the best of my ability

Hello Barclaybird
What happens if I apply to have my bank charges refunded, and they are, but they are only 1/3 rd of my overdraft (less in fact). I appreciate that they would probably pay the refund into my overdraft (I would welcome this!), but if they close my account (I have opened one with Nat West just in case), do they recall the overdraft immediately? I don't have any spare money, but would be able to cope if I could pay them back monthly.
Is this likely to happen? I have been with the bank for nearly 25 years.
Thanks and best wishes
Carol0
