Could you tell me Barclay Bird, do Barclays credit check their basic accounts?

The short answer is yes - they check credit reference agencies and the electoral register. The fact that they have searched is logged on your record - but is, apparently, not disclosed when you apply for credit.

This is according to the application form. There is a helpline - the number is 0800 015 4996 if you want to check.

(I don't work for Barclays but I was considering their basic account.)

All NTB (New To Bank) customers have a credit check, even for a savings account.

Only when you have a relationship with the bank can a credit check be missed out.

Some services always have one done! Regardless!

I know this may be on somewhere else, but i just wanted to know, if im in my overdraft, and im looking to claim back bank charges, am i likely to have my account closed.

Not a policy. I would however advocate following MSE Martin's advice and have a parachute account.

Not according to the T&Cs

6. Transfer of ISA to another ISA operator
You may request us to transfer your ISA to another ISA operator by sending us your instructions in accordance with condition 9.3. The transfer will take place within such time as you have stipulated to us, subject to any reasonable period up to 30 days to enable the practical implementation of your instructions.

Barclay Bird - any tips on getting a current account with Barclays? My credit isnt great - 1ccj (cleared) and 3 defults.
What is it they look for?
