Oh and to those who've said they're making their veils, how hard is it?? And worth the saving?
I haven't started making mine yet (still impatiently waiting for the fabric to arrive...
), but I've read a few tutorials and it seems fairly simple. Check out youtube for tutorials to decide whether you want to tackle it. The savings are very good compared to bridal shop prices, and beat most of the ebay prices as well. My fabric cost £14 inc P&P, and the comb was 20p. That's for enough to make a single tier chapel length veil, in fine nylon tulle. I should have lots left over actually, as the fabric is 3m wide!

RobinRed - I love your wedding makes. I am sure they will look stunning on your wedding day.
We have just chosen our venue and are about to book it so now I have ideas of what I want to make swimming around my head and I cannot wait to get started. I have managed to collect 30 brooches for my bouquet. I think I might need some more as some of them are only small.0 -
RobinRed - as others have said - your makes are amazing! I love your necklace and how beautiful that it is made of some of your late mum's jewellery.0

I hope the picture can be seen below.
I have just been looking on Etsy and I have found these decorations. I was wondering if any of you lovely creative people knew how it was made or know of a tutorial I can follow to make it.
Thanks

Loving the brooch bouqet thing. Not heard of that before. One thing a friend of mine done to save money was to put good quality disposable camera on each table so the guests took their own photos of each other. That was the best wedding album i've ever seen & portrayed everyone having such fun rather than just poseing in an organised shoot. Anyway, sorry to butt in, i stumbled across this thread searching for some jewellery making tips. I'll carry on with my search, I am afterall already married & tied the knot in vegas . My reception party was just myself & my husband, an all beef hot dog each & some haggen das ice cream washed down with a bottle of champagne so I don't really think i have anything to offer this thread except I hope you all have the happiest wedding day you could ever wish for as we did x0

Not seen them before, but if I were to attempt them from looking at the picture, this is what I'd do:
Cut long strips of scrap paper to six different widths. Roll the thinnest strip up tightly, and glue to make the centre of the flower. Then cut the other strips widthways partway through every few millimetres to make the petals. The uncut width needs to be the same on all the strips, so the thinnest strip you are cutting will have the shortest petals. It looks like the uncut width of the petal strips is a little wider than the width of the centre strip (the one already rolled up). Glue one end of the thinnest petal strip to the centre piece so that one side of each piece is in line with each other (ie so that it only overlaps on one side) and roll tightly around it, gluing in place at the end. Repeat with the other strips, working up to the widest strip. Fold out the petals, doing each strip separately and leaving the thinnest petal strip unfolded. Bend some sturdy wire into shape and stick to the bottom of the flower with strong tape.
Some trial and error may be required to get the relative widths of the strips, size of the petals etc how you want them, but it should be fun to do!
HTH!
