Southern electric has also announced a drop in price but we're yet to know by how much and when.0

Does that mean we should hold off switching? I was looking into it literally yesterday, but I'm wondering if I should hold off for a week or two to see if other providors follow suit?0

i hope they do follow suit i've just literally switched to ebico:mad:0

Can't see the fixed cappers being happy.

British Gas has said it will reduce its gas and electricity prices next month.
The group says it will cut gas prices by 17% and electricity by 11%. It added that the average annual dual fuel bill would fall by £167 to £953.

I must say though that however much BG go down in price I would NEVER go back to them. I only had to deal with them for a couple of months as I inherited them from former tenants so I had to sign up with them while at the same time ringing my old supplier to orchestrate a handover. And during that short period of time BG managed to get just about everything wrong, so for that appaling customer service alone they get the thumbs down from me anytime - and do we really think the service will get better if the prices go down? On the contrary, dear Watson.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Why?
Those on BG Fixed to April 2010 have rates more than 17% lower than BG Standard tariff.
Those on the later versions can switch without penalty if the new rates are better than theirs - and they will have gained some money over the past few months.
There is also the question of how long these rates will stay reduced - still some time before we reach 2009 or 2010.
It is all round good news in than nobody loses anything and a lot of people gain. It doesn't hurt those who were getting their gas/electricty, say, 30% cheaper to be now getting it 13% cheaper.0 -
A not very good ploy to mainly stop the rush of customers leaving, brought forward from the previously announced "in the Spring" reduction.
17%,..... when they are paying more than 50% less at their end:rolleyes: :rolleyes2 , you cannot but help admire their generosity.

I doubt if they will beat Ebico price even with the reduction, so why worry.ac's lovechild0 -
so what will be their new tarriffs with these reductions ?
ebico are 2.55p gas inc vat
11.35p electric inc vat (south wales)
both with no standing charge, how do these compare to the new BG price format?
Thank you.0
