Yeah I use that one all the time btw ( latter had to be checked by one or 2 colleagues with their teenagers...!,:-) I am so hip... ( that's a joke by the way!)

Hope everyone is OK today. nice to see you DDFW! I have been accepted for the MBNA credit card so more bunce in my current account. Am assured that the BT to Virgin will not go through which is fine. So....well. What shall I do? Just accept the BT to my current account? Leave the rest of the credit limit unused and when it's paid off just ditch it? Move a small amount to the smile CC which still has about £500 on it? Am thinking I am making more of this than I need to but it's a glitch here that I hadn't bargained for. Too many credit cards! And my brain ain't working!

Picked up some travel necessities, tights etc from B@ots today with lots of 3 for 2 offers. Handy. Should also get a reduction from using them for my CLs but doesn't seem to show up so must chase that. Wonder if I can do that online?

Got £10.03 in CD sales from Amazon so that's OK. This new budget app etc seems good, working well so far and it will do some fairly funky charts. Importantly for me and my OH it is essential that we have one that we can synch together from 2 different sources. So it's a cloud based app which we can separately input into which is great. For the last one I had to input all the details of stuff I had spent when I could get OH's iPhone which meant some times I didn't bother! It's looks quite nice too which is always a bonus.

Otherwise a working day and eve so won't be on here much. Free wifi at the hotel though which is a blessing. Thank goodness more are realising that we hate paying for it!! It's the fifth utility for goodness sake!

£5.40 on magazine and paper for train home. Bought a coffee £1.70 ( had a Bite discount card do recommend them if you use trains regularly as are 20% off). OH went and bought TA pizza for us this eve (£12) so we sat in, lit the stove and watched Children In Need. Nice and cheap evening.

As OH is going away for best part of a month and that includes my birthday may book a local restaurant for a meal tomorrow eve. Fancy having a chat tbh, seems ages since we have. Too much time away and too much going on :-(

I've just been reading through your diary. Well done for making the move back to moneysaving.
I can relate to your story as I used to be on here a lot and had got to grips with the debts for a while but then slipped again. Also, on paper we look like we should have a nice lifestyle as we both work full time ( joint income £75k) but in reality we still scrape through at the end of the month.

So hang in there. Don't fall off the moneysaving wagon and I will try not to either.

    Hi Lois

Thanks for reading. I am trying..more thoughtful purchases is part of it. So for example we are going out tonight but will go to a local BYO and meals are never more than £15 a head for the best Indian food I have ever ever tasted...I have just been online and bought some new jeans and leggings for me and my DDs. OK so it's an expense but for a person whose current very elderly jean collection is all 7 for @ll Mankind it's a step forward..just can't justify that anymore and am hoping the Next ones look fine...

I have also bought a reduced play suit for DD2 and flip flops for DD1 for Xmas...we will be in sunny climes for Xmas so all the expenditure on holiday clothes is being dressed up as Xmas..

OH just has taken back items from the garden overhaul we didn't need so £20 back in the jar. He has also gone out to get some goodies for the pumpkin veggie curry he is planning to make in the SC. Another cheapie meal... And pumpkin was from our allotment so all good.

Hope everyone is having a good time xx

I think you're doing well. When you're in it for the long haul, it's not about cutting everything out completely. It's more about thinking how you spend and changing habits. It is doomed to fail if fun is cut from the budget.

Thanks Piq. Well a very LSD here.

Day went like this. Alarm set for 6am to do some work. Completely couldn't get out of bed as had been awake between 4-5am so got u at 7am and worked until about 11. Then hauled kids and OH out of bed and we got to the allotment for some real hard graft clearing for about 3 hours. We took snacks, coffee and lovely pumpkin soup in a thermos. Only disappointment was that it got very chilly and we only got about 8 potatoes. Serves me right for not going down there months ago! But there are more potato patches to dig so you never know. Purple Sprouting broccoli has miraculously escaped death by caterpillars..it ws looking very very sad last time we went down but now we have 5 flourishing plants! Yeah!

Then back for some vegging In front of the TV before almost ordering Chinese TA....OH was the resilient one and whizzed up some spring rolls instead before having our curry..

Now settling down for a few hours before bedtime, but a relaxing day. And no spends apart from milk! The meal last night was lovely too and including the tip was £40 so not bad.

Hope the detail wasnt too mundane! But it helps to remind me that the good frugal life has its moments! :-)

  • Not mundane at all. It was lovely to hear all about your day and a lovely one it sounded too !

Well done on Mr B whizzing up the Spring Rolls. I must confess we called out for a Curry Friday night. :o

    Have a good week x
