Thanks guys, much better night's sleep and less coughing :)

So...feeling much more optimistic and more like my usual self :)

Having today off work, not fair to infect others, but plan to work tomorrow and Thursday to make up for a little of the cash lost. Perils of being a FL'r!!

    So..today will..

    - make an inventory of everything in the freezer and the larder so I can meal plan even more effectively
    - tidy up and sort clothes and give away at last 10 items. Falling behind on the targets so need to get to sorted again. To be fair, OH had a clear out before he went away and so these can add to the pile and I can update the sig. it's helped having a target and being mindful of my target is certainly helping me not buy clothes, not even in the CS where I was tempted once or twice.
    - need to get OH to pick up an advent calendar... completely off the radar what with being ill
    - cheap dinner tonight..prawn and veggie risotto, ingredients already to hand

Otherwise I will see how I go energy wise. Have to go to one of the girl's school for a meeting too..think i will give myself a break and take the bus!!

I did an inventory of everything we have in freezer and cupboards. It helps with meal planning.

Hope you feel better soon xx

You too SA! You too...how's it going? Any chirpier today? Must be hard when you're laid up.

Inventory done. Not as much as I thought as its mainly garlic, pastry, meat and other bits and bobs. Haven't started larder one as feeling tired!

Also done some more work on the accounts (think I may have just squirrelled enough together for THEM if the provisional estimates hold good), cancelled a few savings DDs that are just step too far at the moment and sent an itemised list of spends to a mate so she can pay me back some money she owes me for a trip we did together. When thats in I can pay off the relevant CC in full.

  • The food inventory is a good idea. When I was doing over the kitchen via the "Cleaning Project" I wrote down all the food items that I had in stock - really helped with devising the monthly Tesco shop and what I can make for dinner!

You always sound so busy Brizzle! I need to add food inventory to my list of jobs as recently have been making some random meals that need lots of ingredients... need to remember what I have in the cuboards to make again and not buy again... Singapore chow mein was a win last night though but accidentally made about 6 portions and there is only 2 of us... not sure how well will freeze so OH may have to accept eating it every night.

    Hi all

Yes food inventories are good - really help on the overbuying. Luckily we never throw away (hungry kids, a 'use up' obsession of OH plus chooks eat the rest!) - we have overflowing larder and freezer which I need to rationalise.

Spending morning sorting Xmas presents - using all the loyalty points, -MOV vouchers etc to totally minimal costs. Plus kids on a strict budget as we bought them ski gear. Dr Dre headphones for them and not much else. PJs I think and a book. There are toiletries in their stockings (already bought) - v minimal this year. They will be pleased tho which is the main thing. OH and me keeping to a £20 budget each.

Still feeling below par and OH pretty upset by the money situation. I really underestimated the tax and must make sure I am more cautious in future. It will take us months to get back on our feet :(

One line of work has gone ominously quiet - the other is stuck in the system, so we shall see. Hmm.

Anyway, the big bills went out safely today and OH is safely home. :T Much to be thankful for.

So.. spent hours today crafting a new money plan which need to run past OH and get him on board. To hit the goals of repaying the 0% CCs and building up the pots again, and getting us onto where we want to be (ie. proper future buffers so this never happens again), will take, I estimate 32 months..yes, you read that right, 32 months

Good to have a scare once in a while I guess and just shows you that my light bulb has been flickering. Still no word on the exact tax bills but am working on a pretty poor scenario.

All bar 2 Christmas presents ordered, and together those will be less than £20, so feeling pretty chirpy on that front. The new forecast and plan for next year will take real commitment, but if the work and employment continues it can be done. There will be a lot of saying 'no', but we will hardly be on the streets.

On the house front, looking to see about swopping mortgage deals with the current provider - have an appointment tomorrow. However not holding out a lot of hope as have estimated that will only save us £20 p.m if we move, but would give us stability as its a fix. But we are down to 'only' £155k and 'only' 8 years to go..every cloud has a silver lining I guess. I love the fact that even if we were to make no OPs, we have less than 100 mortgage payments to go..YAY! :T

    Hope everyone is good
