Yep thats it:D We revise for exams and tests here..........and we are an exam driven education system so our children from the age of 7 ( earlier in England) are tested and tested and tested all the way up to 16 when they leave high school or 18 if they decide to take further exams called A levels:( The pressure at this time of year is great:(:(Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

You've done sooo well, but I know what you mean about taking a way of life (MSE) more seriously, I think I do well about 80% of the time, but at least is balanced and hopefully sustainable
What recipe for ginger beer did you use? We did one last year that wasn't a success... We've still got a big root ginger in the freezer!Mortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20220 -
Hi folks!!
Thanks for popping by to say hi. DD1 has just left the house for a final big push on Maths..9am-2pm revision day so most of the school back in. As I have said before, really can't be anything but completely effusive at how much effort the teachers are putting into making sure the students get all the support they need to get the best grades they can. As you probably tell from previous posts, huge advocate of a quality state educationand it's great to have my confidence returned (with interest) when 5 years ago acquaintances were telling me I was mad to send my child there.... I was so not...
Only time will tell in terms of actual grades. But she's revising and attending all the classes so fingers crossed for them all. There will always be some you feel less confident in, Ig, but hopefully it will all come good for your DD2 in August.
In MSE matters:
- trying out Mrs Tilly's pulled pork. Haven't checked SC this morning but OH says it looks fab.
- my parents sent me home laden with a fuschia plant, marmalade and a small cafetière I can use for work.. Result and it was lovely to see them. In good spirits despite some aches and pains.
- ginger beer still good, especially with a twist of lemon and some sparking water. MfD, I used one off the tinternet, toriavey.com, but used powdered ginger instead of root ginger, so bit of sediment but OK.
- thinking of doing the 5:2 diet..and seeing how I go. Like the idea of bringing my blood sugars down which are higher than I'd like..
- claimed my first TCB payback - whoop!!
Thanks for all the support guys..means a huge amount
Have a great weekend

And in more news:
- kids have had a good clear out and 42 items of clothes and toys to the CS. Some would have made good money on Bay of E- but figure CS needs that as much (or more) than I do
- veggie plants looking ok outside, will risk some tomatoes being potted out next
- have delisted room - loads of competition and only couple of expressions at moment and will review our options. We may need to think about 7 days or else scrapping idea entirely

My OH did/does the 5:2 diet. Very successful and now just occasionally does a '5:2 day' as we call it, as he finds his weight fluctuates. DD2 and I have gone low carb, permanently. Couldnt do no carb as I do like the odd cake/biscuit/ glass of wine! But I have hardly eaten bread, rice or potatoes for about 12 months now, really feel sluggish if we have had a carb loaded day but can quickly rectify with an ultra low one the next day
We aim to eat about 150g of carbs a day. Weight has dropped off slowly and more to the point stayed off with no effort!
DD2 has a revision day in school tomorrow. We had a long walk along a favourite beach last night and she did her usual park run this morning and its put a a bit of umph back into her - think she just needed some down time from it allBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Good thinking with the CS vs EBay. You could count it as your contribution to charity. Good luck to DD, hope she gets the results she wants.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Hi Brizzled, I bet your home feels lighter after sending clothes and toys to CS. I bet they'll be appreciated by other children. Well done you.
Did you decide to do the 5:2 in the end? How did you get on?

Hi DiA!
My phrase for the 5:2 is my new food strategy...I have told OH am giving it a go but am not calling it a diet..one because weight wise I don't really need it, although my fasting blood sugars are higher than I'd like but mainly because I have 2 girls in the house, no scales etc and am pretty determined not to start a diet type culture...if you see what I mean. So it starts tomorrow...my first fast day of 500 cals. Will be tough but will try it. . First day back at work so might be a nightmare, have packed some almonds and apples as snacks just in case!!
Have posted preferred days for NSDs this month into the diary to help me and OH achieve the target of 5.. Will see if that helps us focus?
OH had a heavy night yesterday..lets see how he copes with Physics revision with DD1 later (evil cackle):rotfl:

So have left the sunny garden to watch Murray clinging on.. Nail biting stuff. Hoping for a successful fight back!!
So we have 7 courgettes, 15 cucumber and 9 tomato plants out in the garden. Hopefully we can keep the slugs at bay. More tomato plants ready to go out but have no more planters or grow bags - have already used up some oil cans that OH kindly cut down and made safe for me. Not sure what else to use and don't want to buy more. At the allotment was 1) plenty of room and b) planted them in and around other plants but that's not an option in our small back garden.
The other news is that 4 large packing boxes full of books have made their way out of the door! WHOOP! :T they are already in the car ready to be dropped at my mums for a fete next month. She will be pleased, I am delighted. Think haven't looked at some of those books in 4 years. Have kept some, but most have gone so the loft looks clearer and the house will feel lighter. Will do an estimate for the sig. Admire jwil's accuracy on her lists but feel I can't quite bear to count them all:)
It's prom dress season  so a few ordered for DD1 to try on at home. Hope she likes one of them, but if not then it's a big trip somewhere to do some serious scouring...
Need to get ready for work.. Will be a bit of a shock to the system to go back after a week away!
Hope everyone is enjoying the sun!! Our panels are really clocking through, one of the best days this year. And in other MSE news am enjoying a PC product and have used one of those online mortgage things - called Habit8 - as think that I may be paying the price for loyalty. Estimates that I may be paying £225 pm more than need to? May be worth checking out. Will know more later this week.
